HD Gaming for Cheap - Sony GDM-FW900

heavyfeul

CAGiversary!
The Sony GDM-FW900 is a 24" Widescreen CRT computer monitor. It accepts a VGA cable from a computer or an Xbox 360. They can be bought on eBay for between $350-$500 shipped. This is far cheaper than a LCD 24" LCD monitor. It is considered one of the best monitors ever made and its picture quality (when calibrated properly) is about as good as it gets. It is a beast (over 100lbs), but it is a good way to get a decent sized HD screen for gaming without spending a lot of money.

Just thought I would give the people here a heads up. It is worth considering if you want to get into HD gaming on the computer or Xbox 360. Not sure if the PS3 has a VGA cable, if it does it might work as well with this monitor.

This monitor was also branded as a Hewlett Packard model (HP A7217A).

Cheers!

I bought this monitor a years ago when it was around 1500.00. It was when widescreen computer monitors started hitting the market.
I love it but the dang thing is so heavy!!

Bump if this brings anyone else out of the woodwork.

Only 22.5" viewable... and for that price, I'd rather get an 22" LCD honestly. You can find those for $300 online after rebates from time to time.

Sure you lose out on the fast ass refresh/response rates but with an LCD, you're getting true digital image quality (CRTs are analog) and you won't have to get a crane when/if you want to move it.
