I'm only mildly aware of the HD Loader fiasco - I also know there are several versions, and at least one sucks.

Anyone care to fill me in on a little info and point me to where I could get the "superior" one for the best price, if anything's better than eBay?

Thanks a bunch.

You shouldn't even deal with HD Loader. Go with HD Advance 2.0 because it supports more games and more hard disk space. HD Loader supports up to 120 GB hard drive but HD Advance 2.0 supports up to a 200 GB hard drive.

here's the site: www.hdadvance.com

i bought hdloader from the following site just a month ago:
http://www.hdloader.net/

well its not really that site selling it, it'll refer u to another one if u wanna buy it but theres some good info there if u wanna know more about it.

i got mine almost a month ago, shipping was extremely fast, i had in like 2 days after i placed the order with standard shipping (free with $30 order).

its extremely simple to install, u just plug in the hdd, put in the cd and in like under a min its formatted the hdd and installed the software. all my games so far have had no problems with it... it takes about 30 mins to install each game depending on how big the game is. but once thats over u'll really notice the faster load times. plus, me being completely unorganized, dont have to worry about cds cluttered up everywhere. worth every penny.

I heard or read the HD Advance had some bugs on it. Is this correct?

I have HDloader and I love it..got it as a Christmas Gift so I can't tell you off hand which place is reliable but here are some links for it:

So far they range from $25 to about $35.

You will love it!

Thats funny because I have 137 GB max on mine.

Exactly. The "official" HD Loader, only supports up to 137GB. Since there aren't any drives made with capacities between 121GB and 137GB, it is essentially correct in thinking that it only supports 120GB drives. After all, why get a 160GB for it if 23GB can't be used at all?

Anyways, when it's protection was cracked, subsequent unofficial versions of this (like the ones that say "Free HD Loader" on the boot up screens) as well as the HD Advance have been modified to add 48-bit addressing to them allowing for larger drives to be fully used.

And also, the HD Advance is not any more compatable with games than the HD Loader is.

I would think by now that there are less and less games to support these kinds of things. Probably more compatible than I'd think they would be.

GoCyberShop is legit. Ordered my stuff monday & got it Friday.

Since HDLoader and HDAdvance are compatible, any games you load onto your 120+ GB HDD using HDLoader can later be accessed using HDAdvance (as well as any unused storage space on your 160-200 GB HDD) if you decide to upgrade your pirating software. :D If you find a 160-200 HDD cheap (cheaper than the 120 GB version anyway), you might be better off going for the bigger drive.

i'm not exactly sure what the grounds of this are, but i know that a while back when hdloader was stopped completely by Sony, HDadvance popped up, and ppl sorta hated on it for many reasons, and ppl found a way to run the real hdloader on your memory card, which i got to work, can some mods tell me if this is ok to post?

If you got a 120GB HD I don't believe you would get the whole thing. Space on the HD is used up for some kind of format I don't remember. Plus, I got my 160GB HD for cheaper than any 120GB was going for. Plus HD Loader is one disc. While on HD Advance you need a different disc for CD and DVD games.

funny this thread came up, im getting my stuff together for this today.
i came across a program called hdl dump
that looks to be the best imo
you install your hdd on your pc and copy the games through your pc.
it will also copy and play backups, without a modchip.
i sent my wife to get the net adapter today to try it all but she forgot.
so i should be rolling by this weekend i will give you feedback.

has anyone ever ordered from ps2cover.com?

im thinking of getting something from there, i just want to check out how legit they are, and if anyone has had experiences with them already

Supposedly any of the HDloder programs will play an import as long as you can get it on the drive which is what causes the need to have a program to install them from the computer since the PS2 will block the games if they arnt the right region when you trying to install them with the system itself.

PS2 cover seems legit, it's just that the cover product is kinda cheap looking. If I were to buy a PStwo I'd probably still get one though just to try the modification.
Someone at least PM me the way to get HDloader to run on your mem card, this I got to see.
I'm pretty sure thats illegal because you're stealing the program, and Daphatty locked it up the last time we talked about it.

he didnt ask to have hdl pmd to him just the info on how to get it workign on his memcard
It'd probably be easier and safer to just google the info.
Come on now. When it comes to things that skirt the rules and the lines, just google it. We all can be lazy about things, but this is the type of thing that you have to look up. It's not the easiest thing to do anyhow.
