I just recently transfered my 20gb saves and everything over to a 120gb hard drive and since I didn't need the 20gb any more I traded it in. Because I used the transfer kit is all the data off the 20gb or should I go back to Gamestop and get my hard drive back because of the personal data on it. Other than that are there ways I could secure my Live account (the only important thing on there) if the info is still on the hard drive?

The transfer kit language makes me think there is nothing to worry about, but I thought it best to ask.

Not only will it take away all your personal information, the 20 GB hard drive will be with its factory settings. Including all the demos, themes, gamer pictures that it came with.

Just as when you put your 120 GB you not only had all your info but all the factory defaults for it as well.

Yeah, I double checked that HDD when I transferred my stuff to a 120GB and it was set back to factory settings. I traded my 20GB in as well and I was worried about this. You should be fine.

I got a 120 GB at Target on clearance for $127. I sold my transfer kit and 20 GB for $40 and $35 respectively. I was surprised to see the kit go for so much, but it ended up making it so my upgrade cost less than $60. Out of curiosity, what is Gamestop giving for the 20 GB? I didn't get much for mine on eBay...

It been reported in the GS threads that the 20gb HD gets $15 at GS.

I just made the transfer over to the 120gb HD last night. I got it for $44.98 at Target. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the 20gb.

Why would transfer kits be going for so much on ebay? Aren't they free from MSFT if you just send them a request form?

Ignorance is bliss (and profitable).

Can you (or anyone else) let me know how this is done? I'm looking to upgrade to at least a 60gb, but I don't want to spend money for the transfer cable.

The 120GB HD should come with one. Otherwise call MS support and explain you want to transfer data from your old hard drive to your new one and they'll send it. For me it was literally 5 minutes between dialing and getting them to ship a kit out to me.

Download and print the form from Microsoft's site. I highly recommend faxing it to Microsoft with your information (name, address, old console ID, etc). Where it says "Elite or Special Edition Serial Number", do as many of us have done - write "PENDING - On Order From Insert Online Retailer Here". You should get a cable in about a week (and many CAG's have reported getting two from two different addresses). If resold, it's extremely possible to recoup $30-40 of the new hard drive investment on each cable (more for the potential second sealed kit).
