Ive been looking for a "deal" on one of the HDTVs ive been eyeing, but nothing spectacular has come up since I missed BF. Im looking to spend anywhere up to $1000 on an LCD HDTV. I have a 360, no PS3 or Wii yet, and I am not hell bent on having 1080p. Ive read up on some of the issues on these models (especially the Westinghouse.) Maybe someone that knows or owns some of these can help.

Id like to get a TV within the next week or two... so far ive seen the following:

Westinghouse 42" W4207 $999 at BB

Westinghouse 32" 32W6 $699 at BB
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...house&lp=4&type=product&cp=1&id=1134703181778

Samsung 32" - dont know the model #, likely a bit older, pretty sure its 1080p ~$999 Sams Club (and ive been told Walmart also, but havent checked yet)

Olevia 37" 337H $788 at 6th Ave Electronics
http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?x=337H (cheaper in sunday ads)

Olevia 32" 332H $632 and $599 at 6th Ave/CC
http://www.6ave.com/product.jsp?x=332H

I wasnt too fond of the way the Olevias physically look, kind of ugly, but I can get over that if need be. I personally was leaning towards either the Samsung or the 42" Westinghouse, but I read about some SD issues on the Westy, and the Samsung is nice but is still a bit costly. Anyway thanks in advance for reading the 39757th HDTV thread.

Don't buy the Olevia 337. That TV doesn't have a tuner and can be had for much less (~$650). The Olevia 237 and 437 are both great TVs and have built-in tuners and can be had for $799. As far as quality:value ratio goes Westinghouse and Olevia are usually great deals. I own two Olevias (one of them for over a year, one of them for a week) and they look great with my 360 and PS3... I'm not all that concerned about 1080p yet either.

Id get a DLP if I had the room for it. Unforunately, the only place I have to put a TV is on a wall mount. Definitely a sweet deal though.

ive got the westinghouse LVM-37W3, ive had no problems with it and it cost me about $1300 total (i didnt commit to the best buy sale and lost a couple hundred bucks:bomb:) a year ago but you could probably find it for $1000.

I'd recommend Sony's line of LCDs above everything else, but based on what you posted, I'd go with one of the Westinghouse TV's. Samsung's LCDs are decent, but they've got some issues with the picture quality... I remember hearing about how Samsung's models would sharpen the image to the point where you start losing a noticable amount of detail.
if you have the space, yay or nay on DLP?
In general? Depends on the TV, obviously. I really don't like DLP's all that much though simply because they don't seem as bright and vivid for the most part as LCDs and plasma TVs do. They fixed the rainbowing issue with the SXRD DLP's, but all the other things I don't like about the technology are still there. Even if you have the space, I'd still tend to recommend an LCD or a plasma at any price point.
