If you have a Target nearby, the Olevia TVs are pretty great for the price. :)
Yea I was looking at the 32" Olevia on Newegg. I like the reviews i'm reading too. Does anyone have any personal experience? Thanks.

I was going to buy a 32" Olevia several weeks back. When I got to the store, I saw it sitting next to a 32" Samsung. The difference was astounding. I know that the stores tinker with settings and what not, but needless to say I ended up with the Samsung. It was definitely more expensive, but at $799, it was well worth the money in my opinion.

That being said, had they not been side by side, I would have purchased the Olevia and probably been very happy with it. I've heard great things about them, in this case the extra $250 made a huge difference.

we have a 37" olevia and a 32" bravia and i must say i enjoy the HD picture on the olevia better.

olevia is a great brand, there is a reason it was rated one of the top tvs in each of its sizes by consumer reports...dont hesitate to invest in one.

Not really most pull them out of a box and set them to the brightest settings. However your right the sammy is better than the olevia, but as I say all the time for the money you cant go wrong with w Vizio or Olevia.

Well, I have the 42" Olevia from Target, and it's pretty awesome HD channels look great, and PS3 looks amazing. :)

I do have ONE issue with it, and that is this:

When the TV first turns on, turning on a HDMI device(PS3) will give me a screwed up screen, so I gotta turn the TV on 1 minute before I play PS3. It's worth mentioning that this didn't start until after a few months. Just like with any other TV, it's worth picking up the extended warranty.
You need an antenna or a digital cable box.
Ok I thought so. I know that the 32" Vizio has a QAM? antenna included. How much do antennas go for and does that make it a better deal? I know someone said before that they liked both Vizios and Olevias and thought they were similar.

I'd got with a Vizio or Westinghouse over Olevia.

I saw a 40" Bravia 720p for $999.99 at a Sears when I was out game hunting. Well worth the extra $200, even though it was a floor model.

OK let clear this up

QAM:is for digital cable if you have digital cable and your TV can decode QAM (QAM Tuner look in the specs) You can just screw in the cable to the back of the TV and it will give you digital cable channels that are "in the clear". Most likely lower number channels, music, and local HD. Some companies leave ESPN and superstitions in the clear but most don't.

ATSC: The new over the air standard for digital. So first take a look here http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/Address.aspx this will let you know what digital channels you can get over the air (OTA) and help you find the right antenna. Most HD and Digital channels fall into the UHF spectrum. I use a 7.99 RCA antenna from wal-mart, I use it inside, and get all but one HD channel but I also get them QAM so it's more of a backup and for my DVR.

NTSC: The old you should just not give a damn about this because in about a year it's the way of the DODO. It's the old analog system for OTA but all TV's have it for now along with a ATSC tuner so people can still use Rabbit ears.

So this concludes Basics HD 101 any qustions?

I'm thinking of buying a Westinghouse SK-32H240S 32" LCD HDTV. Best buy has it for $699.99 but I have a 12% off coupon. Amazon has it through another retailer for cheaper but with shipping it's about the same price, plus I'd have to wait for delivery. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...81668?_encoding=UTF8&m=AN8LN2YPKS7DF&v=glance).
Anyway, it seems like a good TV for consoles and television. I know it isn't 1080p, but 780p is probably a big enough improvement over my current old 19" CRT TV.

At that size 1080p is worthless unless you plan on sitting about 2ft from it. Not a bad deal with the BB coupon I say get it and enjoy

I just got back with the OLEVIA 32 inch tv. I'm still seting up the channels but in store it looked good. Two things with it though it does not come with a book. The manual is on a CD and the brand is so new most remots do not have codes for it. They said on the site to use RCA, LG and some others that they will work. You can also use a smart remote or a learning one to find the codes. Wish I would have known this before I bought it. So just thought i would give the heads up.
