Hey All,

I am considering purchasing a headset communicator to go along with XBOX Live, and I'm curious as to which to buy. I know there are several on the market with severe price differences. Anyone have advice on the cheaper ones?

Thanks.

yea if you wanna do live the official one is relly your olny coice. If it ever gives out on you you can always use a cheap cell phone one.

I think you have to buy an official one. The ones that cost 5 bucks are just a head set. They don't include the dongle that you plug into your xbox controller. You need the dongle, I don't think any 3rd party makes that.

the starter kit is not worth IMO. For $60 bucks you get a PH title, 12mounth game card, and crappy headset. I didn't wnat MA, already had a 12 month card, and the headset flat out sucks. However major props to MS for leting us use our own headsets, unlike the official sony one.

Well, it's really a matter of how cheap you are. If you want to, you can be official and just buy the starter kit. You can go to Blockbuster, get a free 12 month card, buy a mic seperate, official or non-official, and I'm sure one of your current games is online compatible. Your choice.
god lol...i though the official headset is great....its so comfortable and does not get in the way..
It is a nice mic, however unsturdy it is. Well, actually, I never broke the two of mine that got broken, that was my brother's friends, so unless you're a careless pot head, I think it'll be good.

Thanks guys,

I don't need the whole startup kit because I was able to snag three 12-month subscription cards from a few local Blockbusters... I ASKED for them so don't flame me! :) Anyways, I will go ahead and go with the official version. My tag is Lyric706, and I'm usually on playing Splinter Cell or Tetris.

Thanks again. I appreciate the advice.

i don't really dig the way the MS headset grinds into the top of my ear, so i'm thinking of replacing it. tonight i plugged up my cellphone headset and it didn't work...

do you guys know of any particular cell phone (or other) headsets that will work?
