CAGiversary!
It's time to upgade the PC and I thought this time I would try and build my own but this will be my first experience doing anything like this. How difficult is it to build a PC? Any recommended tutorials or guides? I am planning on going to a Microcenter in store tutorial next weekend.
I got a great deal on a new Intel DP67BG motherboard and i7 2700k processor for $200 and am now looking for the rest of the components to go with it.
I'm not sure what brands of components to go with or what should be avoided.
Like I said, I'm not really a techie when it comes to PC specs so I'm not sure exactly what components I need to build a PC with the performance I'm looking for.
I'm basically replacing a 5 year old Dell XPS 700 (I think) desktop that I use for equities and futures trading. This was not originally bought as a trading machine, it just became one after the fact. I don't do any PC gaming so having the latest and greatest as far as gaming is concerned doesn't really matter to me but I do need to be able to run an 8 monitor setup at 1900 x 1200 resolution and basically handle the tremendous amount of data and indicators that the trading platform requires.
Over the past few months I've noticed some noticeable lag when modifying charts on the fly and I'm sure this is the result of running more trading programs and formulas at one time than I used to.
What type of components should I be looking for? I'm assuming I just the basic components and then as much memory as the board will handle along with 4 graphics cards to support the 8 monitors.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
