You're a little confusing, so I'm not sure exactly what you're asking... But I'm going to assume that you want to use the HDMI output on your xbox to a tv that only has dvi input (aside from component, etc.).
The hdmi to dvi cable would work if you wanted no sound. You're really better off just using the component cables, because going out and buying the vga kit would be kind of pointless, the quality will be about the same and component and vga both only have outputs from 480i to 1080i, only the hdmi will get you 1080p.
Not sure if I helped or made any sense (it is 4:30am) but with no hdmi input on your television, you're just best off using the component cables it came with. (or trade x-box's with me since mine has no hdmi output

lol)
Component can get 1080p, its possible via VGA on some tv's.
You'll notice change from 480i-1080i, but you might be better off snagging a new hd tv , the differences between I and P are pretty big for the higher up you go tv size wise.
