I was watching TV late night this past weekend and there was a crappy game movie on and I can't figure out what it was called. I'm just kind of curious since I don't remember it in theaters or anything.

These three kids (two guys and one girl) are playing a game online with some corporation on the other end. The lady who works for the company communicates with him via video chat and somehow ends up getting kidnapped by her boss. I have no idea what happens after that because I passed out. I think it came out around 1999-2001.

It's bugging me that I can't remember the title of the flick.

The only thing that comes to mind is the oh-so-crappy "Stay Alive." But, now that I think about it, I don't remember anyone communicating via video chat in that movie.

Ok, let's do this the much much easier way. Although, it would have been better if you posted earlier...

What channel were you watching at what time on which day?

Do you remember what channel you were watching on? You can go onto tvguide.com and see the tv listings for the past couple of weeks I believe.

I tried to find it via tv.yahoo (it's the only one that I can go back in time on). It was an HBO, Starz, Encore or Max channel and on Friday night.

God dammit. I saw this thread, and was all ready to come in here and yell, "eXistenZ"!

But it's not eXistenZ.

Psychic powers, you've failed me once again.

WarGames?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/

Or it's shitty sequel WarGames: The Dead Code?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0865957/

- edit Or Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338459/

can you recall any of the actors/actresses in the film? if you can find one of them then all you need is imdb to get the info you need.

Ok...

HBO: http://www.hbo.com/#/index.html/
You can download which HBO channel you might have been watching and search for the entire month.

Cinemax: http://www.cinemax.com/apps/schedule/ScheduleServlet?ACTION_DATE=UpdateCalendar&DATE=4/23/2010
Schedule for Friday, April 23, 2010

Starz/Encore: http://www.starz.com/schedule/download
Same as HBO, you have to download the month schedule for whatever Starz or Encore channel you might have been watching.

I'll let you go through those, since there are lots of channels to search for each.

Sounded like Hackers to me too. Two guys and a girl (Jolie, ZeroCool, probably Matthew Lillard), playing a game (not a game, but the corny "hacking" graphics could be mistaken as a game). I don't recall anybody being kidnapped though.

OP, look familiar?

nobody gets kidnapped but that one kid gets arrested.

Wasn't hackers, it wasn't a very well-made movie nor did it have any stars in it. It was out around 1999-2001 because I remember the year in parenthesis next to the title on the cable box but not the title itself. I'll pore through the channel sites soon I've just been working a lot lately.
I don't think the movie he saw was based on an actual video game, just that it involved a generic video game.
And if you scroll down there is a list of movies that are built on the idea of a video game but not based on a real one.

Reading before you comment, its a wonderful thing sometimes.
