UPDATE: It took nearly a month for the package to arrive but it did, doesn't make my nerves feel much better about FPO APOs though.

i recently placed a game console for sale on Amazon. it sold on May 11th and I shipped May 12th, I was a bit weary since it was an FPO, but I thought, it's just military mail and our troops deserve to play games as well, so instead of rejecting his payment and refunding I shipped the item.

So about 3 week later the buyer emails me claiming that it hasn't arrived. I replied that it may show up soon to give it time. I'm very polite and its possible to hasn't arrived yet. Going from NY to a CA zip code FPO.

Tracking is not available to FPO/APOs, but I did purchase a return receipt so that I knwo when it's been delivered, but that has yet to come back as well. I did get insurance though.

I'm gonna wait a couple more days but what can I do if they still claim it hasn't arrived?

Are FPO/APOs really this corrupt that huge 16 pound packages mysteriously get lost and return receipts never come back?

If i get burned, I will seriously lose a lot of respect for military mail and never ship anything to a soldier ever again. It's just not fair.

Not sure if you use stamps.com or not but they allow DC now for FPO/APO addresses.

I have never had a problem with one before so I haven't ever checked what it says.

I just sent a package to an APO AE address on the 25th of May. The DC number says it arrived in Jamaica NY. Not sure what happens after that though. Ill keep an eye on it and let you know if there is an update later on.

Still, if you are weary of it, Insurance is probably the best bet. I ship quite a bit and I have never had a problem.

Im not quite sure when they started allowing the DC on Stamps.com but I remember I used to have to switch to envelopes format since package form wouldn't work with the DC number.

I am kinda assuming that you may not receive any more tracking after that Jamaica NY since that may be a first stop thing.
My GF has had a problem with APO before. I do have insurance but would rather not go through all this hassle.
I am learning my lesson though.
