Thanks!

links no worky (I'll be damned if I copy and paste all that :)) Perhaps go into advanced and format the links so the names of the players you want are clickable. And there's no poll.

Edit: Ok, you fixed the links, but I'd rather see the names instead of the URLs

fixed the links

the links are in the same order as the poll answers :)

Don't get a Creative Labs. Too many people here have had trouble with them. I'd go with the 20gig IPod, unless you really want the photo stuff. Might as well save the money though.
I know it's not a choice up there, but I've got a Dell DJ, and I love it and it is significantly cheaper than an iPod.
ive looked at reviews all over and these are the 4 that keep popping up on the radar...i was looking at dells for a while, but in terms of support and stuff, these 4 made my list

i will look back into the dell jukes though

thanks everyone for the input so far...keep it coming

i really have no bias for any of these, i could go any way....i just want a frekin mp3 player for driving, working out, and for hooking up to my speakers in my cubicle ;)

now anyone play with the H300 series...they seem pretty neat...ability to play movies and stuff with a firmware upgrade...the price and ability to find kinda kept me away
Well, I think you can safely (based on the responses here) toss out the Creative (trust me) and replace it with the Dell for your consideration.
yeah, now if i could just edit the poll....damn

main reason i looked at creative was becuase of the price and battery life...but i have heard some shiz about it, and this only solidifies what ive heard....so unless a hoard of creative fanboys come in then i can safely say it is not going to be my choice

i had a creative zen touch, good for the money. but nothing amazing. mine froze up a lot and i would have to let the battery run out, and since it has amazingly long battery life, it was a pain in the ass

I have an H320 and I love it. Great sound quality and ease of use. Video playback is nice but is only an extra; it really isn't the best of quality. For animation, the H320 works well but playback can get choppy in action scenes. The only other downsides are size (slightly thicker than a 4G iPod 20GB) and startup time (around 10 sec, 15 with database turned on). Radio works well and is fairly easy to use as are the text and picture viewers. I highly recommend the iRiver h320 but they are becoming increasingly difficult to find. If I may, another suggestion for an MP3 player is the iAudio X5. I heard good things about the iAudio and it is comprable to the h320.

Wait till EvilMrEgg comes to regale you with his Creative experience. Not a happy camper was he.

yeah, i heard good things about cowons stuff, only thing is that i have a best buy gift cert for 200 dollars that i was going to burn on an mp3 player and just pay the rest....best buy doesnt carry iaudio, so i didnt get to look to much into it

Personally, I love my iPod and the way that it interacts seamlessly with iTunes, so I have no problems recommending it if the sticker shock doesn't scare you away. I have had my 3rd gen 10 gig for over 2 years and have never had a single problem with it. The sound quality is excellent, especially with upgraded headphones, and the user interface is very intuitive to use with the wheel.

From what I've heard the 4th gen models have much better battery life then the problematic 3rd gen, however mine still holds a charge pretty much the same as it did when new. As far as the 20 gig vs the 30 gig, it depends on how much music you have and how much you really want the picture storage capability, although 10 extra gigs and the ability to store photos doesn't seem like a bad deal for $50.
i have a 20gb Ipod and i love it, but for 50$ more you get get a 30gb photo ipod, that seems like a good deal to me!
How much of that 20gb have you used?

I have an ipod and love it. If the difference between the 2 ipod's is $50, and you aren't worried about spending an extra $50, get the 30 gb photo ipod. But if you don't think you need it, get the 20gb.

thanks guys, keep up the recommending and stories

im between the two ipods and the iriver

it seems there is a big rift between iriver fans and ipod fans....ive never owned either, so i dont know what the difference is other than one is trendy and the other is not

i like both

so keep up the recommendations

I have a 3rd generation 15GB iPod and I like it very much. A couple of things about my iPod I didn't like:

1) screen has many hairline cracks even though I'm the only owner/user and I take very good care of my stuff.
2) battery life of 8 hours is acceptable but sometimes I need to be able to play it all day long (10+ hours) and with no outlets close by, it was a hassle to schedule my full day with only 8 hours of battery.

I've never used the Zen Touch player, but I do have a Creative Labs Zen player that has a different set of buttons and all that jazz (the Zen Xtra is the name, I believe)...so let me just say that I love the menu interface and everything about the Zen players. It appears that the Zen Touch shares that same basic interface, and it's great IMHO. I've only briefly used an iPod and I didn't really think it was all that much more easy to navigate or accomplish what I wanted to accomplish. Battery life is great on mine, too. So I wouldn't dissmiss the Zen player unless you're just absolutely sure that there are specific things about the others that you'd prefer.

I second that. I've had my DJ for over a year now and I have been pleased with it. I don't know the current prices, but the DJ was quite a bit cheaper than a comparable IPod when I bought it (there was also a Dell Christmas sale going on).

I've got a 40GB iPod photo and it is awesome. Worth every penny. The others are probably good but I can only speak from personal experience and I have no regrets buying it.

i bought a 20 gig iriver H10...based on reviews and opinions here, and me playing with it at best buy...it just seemed like a good choice (if not i will just return it in a few days..haha)

thanks everyone for the votes and help!

next up....best FM transmitor!!

I have a 3 gen 15 gig ipod for about 1 1/2 years and had no problems with it at all. Get an Ipod trust me you will love it. The problems with other mp3 players is they are not trying anything new. Almost all hard drive based players are not innovate they are just trying to copy the Ipod so go with the best IMO.
