After years of using an RF tv, I finally bought an HDTV!!!! Although i am only 5-6 feet away from the viewing distance, it is an 1080p/120HZ 32" inch refurb vizio. But for $378, I can't say no (would've been $352 but tax -_-).

So my question here is does anybody know a decent priced HDMI cable for the ps3? I know monoprice is the place, but there's so many and i dont know which one is the best.

any hdmi cable from monoprice will work. Dont spend more than $10 on an hdmi cable. My goodwill gets opened target cables all the time and if theyre not in the package you might get them for $1 apiece. As far as Wii component cables though I went with the official Nintendo one.

just measure how long of a cable you need and order the cheapest one. there really isnt any image degrading with hdmi until you get like over 15ft in length

yeah that hdmi cable should be fine. i was under the impression that there is a quality difference to component cables and that Nintendos are better then third party.

So is there a quality difference when buying HDMI cables varying in lengths? for example a 3ft HDMI cable will have better quality than a 6 ft HDMI cable.
HDMI will work up to like 50ft... maybe even 100ft without a digital extender repeater.

HDMI comes in flavors, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3... 1.3c

1.2 will work fine, 1.3c will offer better color matching only if the device and TV will use it.

I think they might be up to 1.3e

HDMI cable should be fine as long as it's above 1.1

For what it's worth, when I got my first HDTV last Christmas and ended up getting $350 in Best Buy gift cards, I ended up buying an 80 dollar Monster HDMI cable there since I knew nothing about them. About a month ago I bought 2 $3 HDMI cables off of Amazon. Tested the $3's to the 80 dollar one. They're all 6 feet cables. Yeah...there's a definite quality difference. Just be cautious/try to luck out.

dont listen to alphapanda, monster cables are an f'n rippoff and arent any better than monoprices hdmi cables. best buy employees get the monster cables for like $7 since theyre so overpriced for consumers. that amazon cables does 1080p and 7 channel surround sound so it should be just fine

And to the poster saying Monster Cables are better than Monoprice cables, there is no quality difference between them.

I looked at the reviews on amazon regarding the HDMI cable I bought and it gave me mixed reviews. Majority said it worked however some people stated that it didnt work on their ps3. that got me worried.

This includes:

Xbox 360 (x2)
PS3
Sony BluRay player
Sony TV
Olveia TV
Toshiba HD-DVD player
Home theatre PC

Never had any problem with any cable from Monoprice, which includes component cables, Ethernet cables and plenty of other types of cables. Never had an issue, ever.

If you have issues with the cable, you've wasted under $3. Could be a lot worse.

True.

But I didnt buy it on monoprice. i just bought the wii component cable on monoprice, although i did remember seeing a recent wii component cable thread in the deals section but i can't seem to find it and its killing me >
i already bought mine but thanks though :D

& shrike, according to xycury, can you explain to me what HDMI 1.3 1.2 1.1 are?? I am not sure what that does but i know the ps3 takes 1.1 from what I researched. But do i tell what type of hdmi cord i have??
Can't really tell by the cable. Just look at the site and see if they list it.

Monoprice does.

http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx

That site should answer all your questions.

Don't worry, I'm positive if it's not defective, it'll work fine.

thanks im more than likely sure it will work here, maybe im just being too pessimistic. however, i dont think it has my cable listed. i don even know the name of my cable. lol. curse you amazon!
I got mine on Amazon for $0.01. Check them out.
1 cent? doesn't shipping make it $5? I got mine for $2.38 shipped.

Since I have Prime, I go with the Amazon Basics HDMI cables. Free 2 day shipping (because I'm impatient :) ) and a 1-year warranty.

Haven't failed me yet.

Monoprice is great too, but I don't mind paying a dollar or 2 more for the faster shipping.

Gotta say I've had no problems with the HDMI cables from meritline if anyone else is looking. Can't beat the price when they have a coupon that gets you two cables for $3.

I'm just stating my personal opinion. The $3 HDMI cable I bought wasn't from Monoprice, it was just an HDMI cable that had the same generic title and description as a bunch of other ones. There was an obvious quality difference from the overpriced Monster one I bought compared to the $3 one I bought.

Don't just shoot me down because my opinion doesn't agree with yours. I wasn't stating that Monster's better than others, I was stating that the ones I bought were degraded quality compared to the Monster cable.
