Help picking a Military FPS for a birthday present?

Long time lurker-

The well has run dry for the hub's birthday and I would love suggestions for a new military/historical FPS (pref on the 360) that run along the lines of: COD series, Bad Company 1&2 that will be available before July 25th. He is currently still collecting ranks in COD4.

We own a PS3, Wii, and decent Quad Core PC gaming system so stellar games for those platforms might work, but he games almost exclusively on the 360 if he has a choice.

Good games for the DS lite or a historical/military game for a moderate end laptop (Celeron , 2GB RAM) like Civ 4 for when he's travelling would work too.

Obviously, he already owns the games mentioned above. He's not big on Sci-Fi FPSes like Halo, Half Life, etc. Mulling over Red Faction: Guerilla but think it may be too sci-fi for him.

Try typing in his favorite game at Amazon and click it to explore similar items that customers also bought. Works for me for films.

Red Faction: Guerrilla is in a third-person perspective (not first-person like the thread title suggests he would only prefer for a shooter).

You can buy the complete Battlefield collection for $60 which covers past present and future military combat.

Or buy every Valve game for $100. It contains Day of Defeat, a WWII shooter, and Counter Strike, a counter terrosist shooter.

There are a couple History Channel games for the 360. A Civil War one and a Battle for the Pacific one. I've never played either and I don't think either of the two are ground breaking but I've heard both were alright to play through.

It would be a bad idea to buy these games for a hardcore COD4 player. They're okay for casual shooters, but hardcore COD4 players won't play them more than 10 minutes.
Does Killzone 2 not work? It's a great game and it can get pretty hardcore.
X2 If he does not have this game then get it. It fits the mold your looking for.

Thanks for the tips guys-

Already own the battlefield multipacks (except for 2142) but will check out Killzone 2.

How is the MP on Killzone 2? Neither he nor I do clans, so it is heavily skewed towards clans similar to COD4?
Also, despite the fondness for historical/military FPSes, he likes to run in guns blazing, so is the gameplay more Unreal/Halo and less Counterstrike/America's Army? (He hates CS but won't stop running out into open spaces- go figure)
