Help, Transfer/Share HDD Content

CAGiversary!
I recently bought an Xbox 360 elite to replace my old 360. The seller did not erase the HDD and said I can use all of the content he downloaded (DLC, XBLA Games, etc.). From what I've read, I need to keep the data on that HDD to be able to use it on my own XBL profile. The problem is that I have my own saves and downloads on my old HDD, and want to keep them. Is there anyway I can put my old data on the elite's HDD, while keeping the data that is currently on it? I have the transfer cable, but I believe it erases the old data if I copy my data onto the new HDD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Use a flash drive to copy over what you want from your old drive to the new one.

Short answer: As mentioned, you can use a flash drive to copy/move content without affecting other content on the old hard drive.

If I remember right, you must have the profile that bought the content on the same drive as yours to use its content, so if the person you bought the drive from recovers his profile to another console, you can't use the content. Sometimes you actually need the other profile signed in, such as some arcade games that otherwise think they're trials.

Not everything will be copyable, in which case you'll have to use the "move" option. Most saves can be copied, but a select few (not sure which exactly) need to be moved. You can re-download everything else from your download history.
If it makes it any easier, you can recover your profile and store your saves on the flash drive. That way you don't have to keep recovering and copying saves when you switch drives.
