Help with Ipod

I got a 1st gen nano, and a 2 yr best buy warranty, now I'm looking for some way to break the ipod and get a 2nd gen through best buy. (It has a small dent on the back, not sure if that will affect anything.) I want it to be reversible (if best buy declines), so no throwing in toilet/microwave or anything like that. Software only. I tried deleting the partitions, but after that all I get is a screen that says "Connect To Itunes to restore" now I want it to be a little less obvious.( getting the

I'll try any software solution so I got no problem installing ipod linux and ing it up like that.

Take it to a bestbuy lay it on the counter and just start crying. I think that might get you an 80 gig one.
