My friend has a xbox 360 arcade model that he wants to trade in, it still works kinda... You see his video game door/tray needs a extra push to load up games. and Xbox says he will have to pay $120 to fix it. So hes looking to get a new xbox 360 arcade.
Can anybody point me to where on the www.toysrustradeincenter.com website I can find the vaule of his 360 console trade in? I heard here at GAG that toys r us started taking in consoles, I think he has his box, and whenever I have brought in games they just scan the barcode and give me a gift card no questions asked.
I figure Gamestop/crazy would actually try and test the thing out, possibly finding out the used 360 has issues.

Any help is very greatly loved :)

Yeah, your just trying to figure out if you can scam a store by trading in a semi-broken console so then when a legit buyer goes to get it, they will find it busted and be in for a hassle. Way to be a dick.

Why don't you just take it to Gamestop, explain it still works and what the problem is, and they will still trade it in, just at a lesser value than a 100% working 360, which yours is not so you shouldn't get the full value anyway.

That or sell it on Ebay or Craigslist stating the problem it has. I'm sure someone would still want to pick it up.

Well thanks I guess. I'm not sure why everybody is acting all weird. Toys r us doesn't sell any used stuff they send it away where what ever 3rd party company tests and resells the stuff, thats why I wanted to take it there. BTW anybody have that link to TRU console trade-in links.

Also I didn't think Gamestop took in less then 100% working xbox360 consoles? can i find there trade in rates online?

My cousin had a 360 with the same problem. If you can open it up, the gears on the drive are probably all gummed up. Easy to clean.

I'm almost positive you can walk into Gamestop with a Red Ringed 360 and they will give you something for it, obviously not the TIV of a working 360 but it's better than nothing. You could probably call a Gamestop and find the value of one, I'm sure they only have a set price for working and non-working 360's.

Either way, trading it a broken 360 as a working 360 is going to hurt the consumer someway, if not by a person directly buying the used 360 and finding it broken, when the 3rd party company finds it broken it will cost them more to fix it and effect their profits. Thus another of the many reasons the prices of consumer goods continue to increase.

Yeah really funny, LIKE I DIDN"T TRY THAT!
Your google link just sends me back to www.toysrustradeincenter.com where I cannot find any links for consoles!
A couple weeks ago there was a post about a $142 trade in rate for the limited edition halo xbox 360 console. The trade in rate was an error, but someone had a link up to a page at www.toysrustradeincenter.com that showed the deal. But whenever I go to www.toysrustradeincenter.com I can find only game trade in rates, no consoles.

Why not just call the store and say you wish to know the price of a system you're going to try and scam them with? I'm sure they'll be glad to help you then.

I do find your advise helpful sir, and I will call Gamestop today.

But while I have you on your soapbox I will ask you what hand does Microsoft have in all this?

By selling a product that has over a 50% failure rate within the first two years of life I think they have a FAR bigger hand in continuing to increase the price of consumer goods then some poor joe who already had his xbox360 repaired and returned just to have to fail again right out of warrenty. Mircosoft should have extended there warrenty to all defects for 3 years instead of just two major issues (RRod & E74)
