So, a few years ago, I think it was TRU doing a massive wii giveaway and my mom entered it. She had a bunch of tickets and she didn't expect to win anything but surprisingly enough, she had 12 winning tickets! We eneded up only getting one system because we had the same name and everything on each one since we didn't expect to win. Had we used other family members, we would have gotten 12 Wiis. Many faces were palmed the day the afiwhosawhatsit thing came in the mail.

People over estimate how many people actually enter these things. My brother and I did one for blockbuster way back in the day and I won 1st prize (every first/second party n64 game to date) and he won 2nd prize (red gameboy pocket with DKC2).

Some contests must be run at a per store level and people assume it is national and they would have no chance of winning.
Lovely story, very sad
Yea. I feel bad for them, it was only a Wii. I couldn't ask someone to bear that burden.

I entered a raffle a while back for a new electric smoker and a nintendo DS at seers and won the smoker... I would have preferred the DS because that one is easier to sell XD

Hope springs eternal for giveaways. Winning 12 times is a nice feather in your cap though. Time for me to stuff every giveaway I see form now on.

I entered a contest in Nintendo power a couple years ago, it was some survey contest. About a month later I get an email telling me I won a Nintendo Wii. Sure enough it shows up in the mail exactly when they say it will. This is how I got my Wii, I certainly didn't pay for it, still using it as well. Now its not 12 wins in one day or anything but still good.

Those contests are held on a per-store basis most of the time so you do have a good chance of winning, especially if its an underpopulated store or not a lot of people enter.

My first Wii was a christmas present. My uncle stood in line in 15 degree weather for 4 hours for it.

I won a wii from a contest wendys had on their website for some new frosty. Was allowed to play 5 times a day per account. After about two weeks i won :)

Also won a crapload of sixflags tickets from mycokerewards about 2 years ago.It was awesome because it was a set of 4 tickets per win and i think me and the wife one a set a night for like a week straight. They all went to ebay for $75-$100 per 4 ticket lot.

Also won a razr cell phone from a pepsi sweepstakes a few years back that i turned around and sold for $150 on ebay

I could go on and on but i will stop now

Lucky bastard

Bad Karma...It's a shame you'll never win anything again in your entire life now, after blowing your entire load on this one contest...and it was only a Wii.

Yeah, people are pretty ignorant in general to some of the national contests as well.

I won Madden '08 through Pepsi (as well as a hat) off less than 50 caps (I was going through two-three Sierra Mists a day at work.) and a copy of NCAA 2010 through Wendy's/Coca-Cola this past year.

Some of them give away thousands of prizes.
