Holiday 360 Game Reccomendations?

Droenixjpn

CAGiversary!
I've recently gotten back on Xbox Live, and holy crap am I impressed! The new look and everything is awesome, and basically I've gotten back into my 360 again.

Instead of me getting Wii games, like I was planning to. I believe I will get a mixture, the majority mostly being 360 games. However, there is one problem; I can't figure out what games would be best on Live.

I've been thinking of getting GTA IV, Gears of War 2, Soul Calibur IV, and possibly Burnout Paradise for the Live games.

I also have been thinking of getting Fallout 3, Dead Rising (yes I don't have this game yet), and possibly others. I'm still playing demos to figure out what games I want to get.

Well in other words, what games do you think would be best for Live, and games that don't go on Live?

I'm into: Shooters, RPGs, Fighting games, Racing Games (depends mostly), and games with basically Action in them. Note- It would be great if you could offer me games, that offer local multiplayer to. I know RPGs don't have Local Multiplayer, just for the other type of games.

So could anyone help a fellow CAG here?

As far as RPGs go, I recommend Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey.

I own Mass Effect, and are currently lending it to SynGamer in exchange for his Lost Odyssey, and i have to say that for someone who generally does not like turn-based RPGs, I'm definitely enjoying myself. I recommend looking into it.

If you like RPGs probably one of my favorite RPGs would be Tales of Vesperia.

Shooters: Left 4 Dead is great for Live play, Halo 3 if you haven't gotten that yet, Call of Duty:WaW, Gears of War 2

Racing Games: Midnight Club:LA is fun and you can get it a decent price brand new nowadays, Burnout Paradise is also a good choice with the tons of free downloadable content they are offering.

Action: GTA IV

Edit: I believe of all those games only GTA IV and Burnout Paradise(I think they added an update where they allow you to play locally but you can only use one controller at a time i.e. you pass the controller around in a series of mini-games) do not offer local multiplayer and of course Tales..

Since you are back on live there are a couple of games I would definately recommend. Obviously Street Fighter HD just came out and it rocks both local and online. If you never got around to stubbs the zombie on Xbox it is toally worth a, download you will have a blast. I would also highly rcommend Indigo Prophecy, now be aware this game has very little action but it is the clostest you'll get to inteactive movie and worth a shot if you are in the mood for something different.
In terms of new games Fallout 3 is worth every penny(beleive the hype) and if you never played oblivion you will get huge bang for your buck on that one if you pick it up now And, I know some disagree with me but I loved Fable 2. It does have Co-op but it sucks, but in my opinion it had the most satisfying combat of any game this year and the world really draws you in.
Finally if you like shooters and dont own Orange Box yet stop reading this and go buy it right now. This game was a bargain a year ago, but Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2(online isnt quite as populated as it was) and poratal? You will not regret purchasing that game.

Hmm, I've played Mass Effect and beaten it, so really a no go on that. I may check out Lost Odyssey because well it's by Square (I think). I will definately be getting Call of Duty: WAW and Gears of War 2, most likely GTA 4, and maybe Left 4 dead. Although I don't know to much about Street Fighter HD, I will look into it, however for Stubbs the Zombie and Indigo Prophecy I really don't know. I'd need more info on those.

You can get GTA4, Burnout and SC4 on sale at a lot of places. Gamefly has a sale on some of those. I think GTA4 is like $20 atm.

Indigo prophecy is very difernet kind of game. At its heart it is an adventure game. The game opens with you in a bathroom having just killed a man(apparently) in a restaraunt and how you deal with the situtuation(hide the body etc.) You mentioned that you played Mass Effect the majority of the game is dialodue trees like in Mass Effect only you are uncovering a conspirecy. The only other gameplay elements are sparadic quick time events. The story falls apart a bit in the second half but it is a truly unique experience.

Stubbs on the other hand is a true game through anf through. It was built using a the halo engine and suprisly controls in a similar way. You play the part of the zombie who come to town and feed on brains. So the townspeople are your enemys and as you eat more brains you create more zombies. It is a fun highly polished game with alot of tongue in cheek humor. Both these games are available for download on XBL under Xbox originals, and if you dont mind dated graphics they are totally worth the 1200 point price tag.

Tell me a bit about Unreal Tournament 3, I've heard some stuff about that game on other websites, but haven't really heard much about it recently.

I would go for the low price tag deals, however that's really up to my parents if they want to go for them.

I believe I'll probably go for Call of Duty: World at War, Gears of War 2, GTA 4, and possibly Soul Calibur 4.

COD4, Halo 3, Gears of War 1/2, Left 4 Dead, Prince of Persia, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, and Rock Band 2 are some awesome games.

Unreal Tournament III is a great game. it's 2 main problems are the lack of user-mods, and the face that turning always seems a little slow. the story is pointless. ignore it. and unless you are a God, you're gonna get destroyed online by the people who play it every minute of the day. but you will still have loads of fun.

CoD4, Halo3, Tales of Vesperia, Mirrors Edge, DiRT, Grid, Banjo, Mass Effect...
most others fall short in comparison to these games :D

I have a complaint about Banjo, is that I can not read the text... They just had to make it the smallest size, that is meant to seem legible.

Thanks guys! I'm compiling my Christmas list right now.

Ya it sucks...I play it on an SDTV, but I can read about 85% of it which is good enough. Text goes a little fast though at times, and if the text was larger the speed would be fine. Hopefully they release that patch soon... =/

Whoa they are making a patch for that? SWEET! I'll actually finally play it when the patch comes out, as I guess I love the storyline of that game series. I must say that this game has taken a turn. I haven't had a chance to play yet, but all I know is there are vehicles and I believe it allows you customize vehicles or build your own or something.

if you didn't like the text for banjo then you will hate dead rising. i could barely figure out what to do simply because i could never really read what it was saying on a sdtv. left 4 dead is a great replacement and it great both on and offline, but much better when you have friends as the other characters. as for shooters, gears 2 is fun with hoard and campaign, i can't say anything about standard online multiplayer since i haven't tried that, mostly due to hating the online from the first one. i would recommend call of duty 4 over call of duty world at war, but that is a personal preference since they seemed to make it easier for bad players to get kills in world at war.

i wouldn't really recommend gta iv for multiplayer, i didn't enjoy it at all and the story was only good, not great. i would only really suggest getting gta iv within the $25 price range and that would have to be new.

Yep. It's actually supposed to be out already... They said in 30 days and its like the 31st or 32nd right now.
I had only played a small bit of the original banjo kazooie as a kid when I got to the freezey peaks level while renting the game. Got the game on XBLA though and beat it, and while it was fun to play through, I enjoy nuts and bolts much more. Generally I despise vehicle creation, like in Kingdom hearts where it sucked, but in this game its top notch.

I'll also suggest Tales of Vesperia for an rpg (it even has a little multiplayer) and Left 4 Dead for an xbox live game.

Both are a lot of fun and shouldn't be missed.
