Holiday pricedrops?

fate-breaker

CAG Veteran
Hey, long time lurker, but I've been wondering about something...

Is there any way, by past selling history or other, to know the general idea of when a game will drop in price? I know retailer sales can greatly assist me with this, but I have a habit of not having money when a sale comes about, so a universal pricedrop would be best. I ask this because I'm hoping to get Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii version) for less by January, but if it's still selling well (which I'm sure it is), I have a feeling Ninty will keep its price for as long as they can. :whistle2:k

If that won't work out, I'm hoping maybe some other good Wii titles might drop... any thoughts on the matter?

(by the way, I hope this is the right place to put this.... it's less a deal "request", and more a "hopeful deal musing" >__>)

First party Nintendo titles hold their value a long time. Honestly, until the game goes GH, I would be surprised to see this title drop in price.

Your best bet would be to try and pick up a used copy...not that it will save you that much, but every little bit helps.

Price Drops:
-Most PS2, XBOX 360, PSP, (possibly PS3 and third party Wii titles, but to early to determine yet as it hasn't happened):
Best selling games take 10-14 months to drop to greatest hits if the publisher wishes it, they usually do, there are only a few exceptions. Low quality games such as movie games depriciate in 3-8 months on average depending on the retailer
-First Party Nintendo games:
Best sellers and "must-haves" can take 2-3 yrs to drop in price, sometimes goes out of print without a price drop, especially on handheld games such as the gameboy advance and DS. Lousy sellers just go out of print, and very rarely goes cheap quick, but it is so very rare to happen.
-PC games:
Circuit City occasional releases games $10 lower than MSRP. price drops occur officially within a year, but can go very cheap in two months if you know where to search, but CAG is good at finding such deals.

Hope that helps... ok it doesn't, it sounds discouraging that the game you want won't drop in price till next year or possibly two years from now... but at least you know how long the wait will be

It's all good, thanks for the help! I'll hold out for a little bit, and hopefully I can get it during a sale then.

I should probably make another topic for this, but I had one last question: are there any good sites for purchasing arcade games? That is, the actual machines?

I was looking for some, like Point Blank, and I came across Coin-op Express which seems pretty good. But they don't mention whether the PB3 machine they have is new or used, and I wouldn't mind comparing with another seller. Thanks.

I doubt that many many people will know this answer, arcade gaming in the US is a niche that is far smaller than the PC market today
