Hollywood Video Gurnee - 60% Games

Alright, if there was a category for "incredibly local game deals" I'd mention this there....

Anyway, the Hollywood Video store in Gurnee IL is going out of business and all their games are 60% off. They have a semi-decent selection of Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox games; a couple GBA games; but no PS3, 360, or Wii games. I picked-up a few games for $5-$7 that are still around $20 used at GameStop.

I figure the place will be closed in 2-3 weeks so get there soon.

The Hollywood Video in Richfield, MN is also closing, all DVDs and video games 70% off, all video games buy 4, get 3 free (odd combination, I know).

A note on the B4G3, if you pick 7 $4.99 games, the total comes to $6.xx for the 7, at

FYI,

My local HW closed this past Friday. The discount went up 10% everday until the last day. On the last day, all movies $1 and games/accessories $2.

COD 4 and Burnout Paradise for $6.00 each were my highlights. I picked them up on 70% day. No prices were on the games, but they rang up $19.99 each. So, keep an eye on games with no price, I think it defaults to $19.99.

Good luck.
Anything left that would make up a 20 minute drive? I am really thinking about going but idk if I want to drive 20 minutes.

Also do you know till when its going on? I get paid on friday so I would hope it keeps going till at least then.
Just went back today, and they had just bumped it to 80% off. Not sure if it's worth the drive - all of the $4.99 games were gone (so no $1 games) - probably 95% are disc only, no games whatsoever which would have flip value on eBay, basically no Gamecube selection. What are you looking for? I could check if they have it (I'd probably remember too).

Nothing in particular but I wanted to see if they had some DS or GBA games.

Sounds like they're closing a number of locations. Not at all surprising, I can't see how they can compete with Netflix, OnDemand, and downloadable films.

I drove by the Gurnee location again today and they had a sign saying it was the last day. 80% off everything more or less. The games were all $1-$4. There wasn't much left of course. All the $1 games were 3-4 year-old sports titles. The $3-$4 games weren't anything to write home about, lots of Spideman 3 (PS2) and Superman Returns (Xbox).

In terms of DVDs, everything was $1.99 but it was 99% crappy horror films.
