Horse meat ban - xenophobic or just plain horse sense?

It just feels wrong to me.

I wouldn't eat a horse, dog, cat, monkey, or ape. Hmm, actually there's plenty I wouldn't eat.

Other countries are free to do as they wish.
I ate guinea pigs in Peru. No worries.

There are pictures of George Washington crossing the delaware on a boat. Does that make using your old boat for firewood unAmerican?

I love horses, however, that doesn't mean that they're sacred animals. It's not like having BBQ bald eagle where its an endagered species or something. They're also not just killing them for fun.

Do you know how much it costs to dispose of a horse carcase? 1800lbs bodies don't just vanish. If you can lessen the financial impact by selling the meat... it makes sense.

LoL.

I like how you say "other countries are free to do what they wish"

And here I thought America was the land of the free.

It's fucking texas, home of Jesus day and George W. That state is becoming a damn nuisance (exception for Austin, of course)

Does this mean that they can't kill horses in Texas and use the meat in dog food anymore?

I don't see how this law actually protects the horses, either the horses will still be slaughtered and simply used for other products such as glue, jello and fertilizer or if the price is high enough they will be sent to another state or country and slaughtered there.
