I'm thinking about starting a blog. What's the best blogging platform right now? Last I heard it was wordpress, but I don't know if that's changed recently.

It's pretty much still Wordpress, unless you want to write your own.

I have Hostgator and just a head's up...you do NOT get free domain name registration even though you have an active account. I have a 2 year subscription to HG and after the first year, I missed the payment for renewing the domain name (I didn't realize it was a bill instead of their very, very frequent newsletter). When I tried to get the name back, they tell me I have to pay $250 because it was "pended to be deleted". WTF?

Anyways, after my subscription runs out, I'm probably going to move to a different service.
