Hottest electronics/items??? (Looking for ideas! Help!)

So i got quite a bit of birthday money from relatives ($840 to be exact... and i have an idea already on things i'd like to consider like ipad, iphone, games, exterior parts for my car, ... but besides that i don't know what else could be out there that i might like and consider. Give me ideas... like perhaps buy paintings for my room? Other electronics?

Just list things you'd look and consider buying when you have money (whether its comics, or video games or electronics). I just want to see your lists and possibly discover things i might be missing. It'd be appreciated since i want to spend it on something i really really like instead of feeling like "cool but maybe there was something that i might have liked more" since i didn't have enough options ! Want to feel like i looked at all the available options and feel good when i make my purchase.
Invest it in a money market account....
Exactly. Make the money work for you instead of rushing out and spending it.

Not sure if investing in anything right now is wise lol.

If it were me though I'd prob buy an itouch, or upgrade my desktop, or buy a new laptop, or buy red dead and a bunch of other 360 titles lol

Reality is i'm treating/spoiling myself with the birthday money on purpose. I work so the things i need are covered and tony that includes taking the girlfriend out to eat at a nice place weekly. I want to treat myself to a nice gift (s) since it's my birthday.

So please lists.

I appreciate your suggestions and i'm very glad you guys decided to help me ... honestly. But i really do need some lists.

LOL! Thanks man for understading.

Really thinking about an iTouch but then again man i don't really listen to music when i'm out in the open world. I have an older ipod (2 year old) in my scion tC for the aux but besides that i never use it.

Desktop, i got a brand new one last december. Laptop, check - got myself my second macbook last year.

LOL! I have Red Dead Redemption already, got it yesterday, girlfriend gave it to me as a gift:

I'm really leaning on buying some tail lights for my scion and spend the rest on a few titles i've been wanting as of late like Left 4 Dead 2 and Condemned 2. The rest, i'll save ... i hope...

Guys, i'm treating myself to a birthday gift.

I'm not very updated with what's in the market right now, so since i'm going shopping i'd like to have my options before i make a decision. Thanks for those who have actually pmd me with links to deals on certain electronics! Appreciate it! ^_^

It if were me, I'd be buying a laptop/netbook or a new cell, since I'm in the market for both. However-
Spend the money when you have something to buy, instead of spending it because you have to buy something.
I'd go with this. Yes, yes, you're slpurging on yourself... and chances are, a couple months from now you'll come across something you actually want to have, instead of the expensive electronic gathering dust in the corner that you had to buy right then or it's not a 'birthday present'.

Put the money someplace safe and take your time shopping around... if there's nothing specific you need, why rush? Something will turn up you can treat yourself to soon enough.

Yeah...what DuelLady said.

There's been one too many times where I went on an OMGIHAVEMONEY $pree and then later on something comes out that I hadn't seen and I kick myself for it. However, if it's REALLY burning a hole in your pocket, how big's your TV? How nice are your speakers? Any consoles you don't have?

When in doubt, just buy game titles, I suppose.
Exactly. Make the money work for you instead of rushing out and spending it.
Sounds like a tremedous amount of fun H-BDAY!!

Buy something you want instead of buying something we tell you to. If there isnt anything out there right now that you feel like you must have, then wait.

Get an iphone. The iphone itself isnt that expensive, but you will be paying the data plan for a while

Stuff that I have bought ever since I got a job

37 inch TV
Desktop with a 23inch monitor
Netbook
Android Phone
Air conditioner for my room
Mini Fridge for my room
Changed my wardrobe a bit and got some nicer clothes/shoes
fuck ton of video games that I probably will never get around to

That's about it, I dunno if I'd get an iPad, looks kinda lame and you could just get an iTouch/iPhone

Maybe a Hookah to smoke when you're bored as well, haha I've been considering getting one just for the hell of it :D

Actually, now is one of the best times to invest in the stock market. Companies that took big hits last year and the year before it are starting to recover. Their stocks are going back to the levels they were at before the recession.

If you really can't think of something to buy, then just save it. Use it later when you actually want to buy something. There's no point in spending $800 for no reason.

@ Lady and others who shared the same thoughts: Thanks for the advice about saving my money... i truly appreciate it. I will save... some of it.

@ alpha panda: I have a decent 32" 1080 inch and thx approved speakers. and i truly don't like spending money on things i already have... really have nothing to improve on or update. I appreciate your input.
I would go with a very nice 7.1 surround sound system :D
I will definitely look into this. I watch a lot of movies and i've never had the surround system experience. Thank you!

Man!! At last.. the first real list i got in this thread. Really really appreciate this!

How's the droid man????? Right now i have a cheap kyocera phone and i'm debating between the iPhone and droid.

I might get one to celebrate the purchases i'll make. Actually thats a great idea lol  (BTW ive never smoked in one... hows the experience compared to smoking with a blunt??) (ALSO!! congrats on your purchases man... very good investments!! specially the air conditioner and mini fridge!! )
Donate the money to a charity.

Or vegas trip (plane, hotel, etc).

Either will be adequate. :D
:) Trust me... this is one of my dreams... however, with my g/f i might never get that true vegas experience. If i go it's going to have to be with her and it'll be fun... but my dream trip would be one with buddies and crazy diverse nights. (not necesarilly sexually oriented trip.. i mean like no boundaries, feel free all night if you know what i mean).

@ Sito: LOL sito... I love candy... a bit too much. I buy about 3 bags of air heads, starburts and skittles weekly. The dentist visits are just as many.... So i might just do that... only i'm not too sure about shipping the rest O_O....

Other cool stuff to consider:

Electric Guitar/Amp
Digital Camera
Expensive Headphones
A pet(dog/cat/etc)
New shoes/clothes/sun glasses

Yeah.

 Gamers don't have gf's, who are you trying to kid?;) That is unless you could consider your left/right hand a gf.:D God knows that route is much cheaper.

As for the actual ideas the only smart one is: SAVE IT. I know I've blown enough money foolishly in this life already to wish that someone would've smacked me upside the fuckin' head to tell me not to squander my money on useless shit I wouldn't have in 5 years anyway.

Okay! Guys guys! Just made first purchases and i feel pretty good because i saved money lol! Check out my CAG mentality and way of life!

- Got Left 4 Dead 2 - NEW (Still sealed and with that new smell sniff sniff ahhhh *_* ) $20 from my friend. He got the game for his birthday in February and never played it since he hated the first one and dislikes zombie games. Being good friends helped the price!

- Purchased smoked led tail lights for my scion tc. ($124.. only ended up paying $62!!!!) Got my father to pay half of it since i remembered him a long time ago he offered me a spoiler for the car (about a year ago when i first got it) , i never took the offer but i never forgot LOL!!!!! and i took the chance!!! You should have seen the look on his face and smile... and then telling me i had the money to pay all of it lol. It was really awkward but funny.

Like you can see i hustled and stretched my money pretty good. Feeling great at this moment... i don't know how to explain it, but its like you felt you spent the money amazingly well due to the deal.

And i wanted L4D2 really bad right now for some reason because i started playing the first one again... it's a game i truly wanted and i play online games so muc, get so much out of them, that it's just perfect. and right now i'm also into modding the look of my car so these two purchases were things i really really wanted. And got them for a really good price!!

For now, to be honest there's nothing i want like i feel i need to get. So with those two purchases down, i'm feeling calm and i've been cured for the moment. For the next purchases i'll try to get the best deals as well.. love the feeling of purchasing feeling like you got some truly good deals! What'd ya think?????
Why are you asking people on the internet what you should buy to spoil yourself, shouldn't you know what you like?
Oooooo Mr. Smarty pants!

If you cared to read my previous posts, you would've had your answer already. What a shame!

My first choice is to splurge after you actually want something, like a lot have said.

But if I were to splurge with that kind of money, I'd probably get something in the following list:

Another TV (2 in the house, don't have the need to really buy another right now)
DSi XL (3 DS Lites, don't really have the need to buy another DS)
Kindle/Nook (reclaiming space is always nice)
More shelves (cause our collection keeps growing...)
New matress (ours is old... probably getting towards the necessity for us rather than want)

If I were you, I'd just splurge on something smaller, in the $100-$200 range, and keep the rest till you really want something specific.

Hey bud, thanks for your suggestions!

Already go to a gym (well kind of.. have a treadmill at home and gym equipment).. even though im not as ripped as you lol. I'm fit but not toned. Work out 4 times a week but I focus more on cardio. I lift some weights and do some crunches and what not but like i said haven't focused on getting toned and working on the guns. How long have you been working out by the way??

Thank you! Appreciate it! This is exactly what i'm looking for, suggestions to see what's on the market out there and things i might be missing on. I just felt it would suck if i bought something and then i heard about this elecronic that i would've rather purchased when it's too late, ya know?

That's exactly what i'm doing right now elessar! I think i'll keep it that way... also i WORK meaning that when i get these small bonuses like this i like to treat myself to nice things. Specially in my birthday! You know what i mean?

Once again man, i very much appreciate the time you took to help me out and give me advice. I read every single post and truly consider all the advices/suggestions i can get.

LOL.. oh man. Could you think of an excuse i could give my g/f to convince her to let me go to vegas by myself ?!? Or a lie where i'm out of town for a week... It's really hard, trust me i've sat down and tried.

Lol thats not me, thats my idol zyzz. I started working out a few months ago. I have lost 20 of fat and gained a good deal of muscle. Right now I'm just focusing on getting stronger. My advise is to build your self up, not run your self into the ground by restricting your diet and excessive cardio. If you have a good diet and a good routine you'll be fine. Heres a good link

ROFL!!! *turns red.. embarassed*

Same thing with me last year mannn. I gained a few pounds last summer due to being lazy and staying playing games all day and night. I went back to my running routine and lost them in about a month.

Yeah, i've never been a big fan of diets.. more of portions.

By the way man thanks for that link. I will definitely check it out!

*feels uncomfortable* lol!!

Yeah there's no ring... but i feel a trip to vegas would jeopardize our relationship. We've been together for 4 years, i'm 21 and it'd be a shame to risk the future for a trip to vegas even though its so tempting man. So it's really difficult..

My best chance is this... this year i transferred to another college due to an exchange program. This year i don't get to see my g/f until thursdays (i'm over there from sunday to thursday)... so best chance would be to miss a week of classes which i can definitely afford and buy a ticket to leave on sunday and return thursday. I have two buddies who'd for sure be up for it... In fact the more im thinking this the more possible it looks...

Will update you guys if this ever happens (itd have to be next semester because this one is pretty much over) ... :whistle2:$ :whistle2:$

:applause::applause::applause:

My one ex had grandiose dreams for her dream house, which were largely copying from her more successful friends who had some of the same items in their homes.

She had Robin Leach champagne wishes and caviar dreams on the salary of a CNA, while her friends were pharmacists and their spouses were insurance agents.

Yeah. Suffice to say that when I told her I wanted a house to LIVE in and not the fuckin' Taj Mahal she realized we would never agree on that, especially since she was imagining using her money AND my money to fulfill the dream.

Sorry honey. I just need a roof over my head that doesn't leak and a warm bed to sleep in.
