How do I hyperlink text?

I've been trying for months now to figure out how to change a website link, such as "http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=12", into plain text, like Short Round's Post.


I know this is a rather easy process, but I'm fairly stupid, and I'm tired of all of my posts looking like utter crap. So I thought I would finally man up and ask for some advice.
