How do I transfer files from one slim hard drive to another?

I've finally filled up my 250 GB hard drive on my 360 Slim. A 500 GB drive is on its way to me. However, I'm not sure how to go about transferring save files and games from the old drive to the new one. I do have a transfer cable, but I'm pretty sure those only work with the old model 360s. So can anyone tell me what my options are?

When did Microsoft start making 500GB drives?  Largest official drive I'm aware of is a 320GB.

The transfer cable works on a Slim as well as the old-style 360s.

I was skeptical when I was told that the old transfer cable would not work. But I had only used one with the old style Xbox 360 with the external style hard drive, so I didn't know any better. Thanks.
