How do you say "don't shoot" in German?

Logical explanation? It's just one of those things everyone should know. Some similarly useful expressions might be:

"Oui, Je, aussi, odeur quelque chose de mauvais."
(Yes, I too, smell something bad. -French)

"Naturalmente ho vostri soldi di protezione."
(Of course I have your protection money -Italian)

actually, Sie is formal for you, not me. the me is implied and not necessary. therefore the phrase would be:

(formal) Schießen Sie nicht!

(informal) Schießt nicht!

schieße mich nicht would mean the verb is conjugated for ich (I), therefore it would be like saying " don't shoot me"

A better question: Why, in "Die Hard" does the German guy not understand Hans when he says "schiess die Fenster", but he does understand "shoot the glass"? Funniest movie moment ever for me, a CAG of German heritage.

Your both wrong. That's Saving Private Ryan.

And 'Nicht Sheißen' is grammatically correct. Schießt nicht is less urgent and wouldn ot be used if you are actually fearing for your life. Schießen Sie nicht while seeming to be more formal, in actual conversation is actually the least formal of the three. While it doesn't mean the same thing, it would have the same tone and inflection as a person in English saying "Hey, don't shoot the messenger." That's according to a native German speaker.
