How does pre-ordering online work exactly?

I pre-ordered Uncharted 2 two weeks ago which cost $60 but they haven't taken my money yet, and I guess still won't until the game ships.

But now I also want to pre-order Modern Warfare 2 now from Amazon to get this deal here and just to have peace at mind.

I am not sure if they need to know that I had the money first before I can pre-order.

Does anyone know if I can pre-order MW2 and have it go through with only like $2 in my account? I'd have enough by the time it ships for sure though (Assuming it ships like nov 7th or something)
 
Yes, Amazon won't check your account or anything. Only when it's ready to ship will they try to charge your credit card or whatever payment method you are using, and if there are no funds available they'll just cancel the order.

I currently have a bunch of preorders with them right now just to keep track of what I want in the future.
