How to check if I'm getting stolen PS Vita?

I'm in talks to buy a used PS Vita with a couple games off Craigslist for $200, which is a steal. He says he commutes into my town to work daily and wants to meet at a Starbucks and make the exchange. Is there anyway to check if the Vita he's trying to sell me is stolen? I don't want to try to log into PSN and find out it's jacked and I have to return it to the poor sap and I'm out my money. Any ideas?

Ask for the original receipt? Other than that I'm not sure how else you could tell.

There's screen lock option on Vita.I don't think there's a low jack thing for Vita or a way to check if it's stolen.

Only way to know for sure is having a cop run it through NCIC. Make sure you get a signed and dated receipt for the sale with the serial number noted. That way if the seller tries to report it stolen at a later time after the purchase, you will have solid evidence in your favor to dispute any charge for possession of stolen property.
