How to clean boxing gloves?

I have 2 pairs of boxing gloves, much like these:

and they've been left outside in the rain/sun/weather for the past six months or so. The insides are really reeking, and still quite moist. So I was just wondering what's the best method to cleaning these bad boys. Is it safe to just toss 'em in the washer and dryer? Or should I hand wash 'em then hang 'em out to dry? Any help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that putting them in the dryer will make them lumpy, which isn't so much a problem for punching someone but rather for having a secure fit. I'd avoid using the dryer, though there may be better ways than just hanging out. Hope you find the right solution!

six months? They're gone.

Remember the insides are like sponges...god knows what living inside the gloves.
