Hi guys,

Hopefully this doesn't break any ToS (if they do, mods please close). Anyway, I want a very specific audio sample from a DVD. How do I go about doing it? This version of the song is only available on the DVD I have so I have no other way of getting my hands on the song. Thanks.

Well, heres 3 options.

1. Rip the whole DVD and take out the audio track.

2. Find a DVD audio ripping program.

3. Use the "What U Hear" recording option for your sound card.

If this is a Concert DVD or something, where each track is a song, then I would rip the video. Then play that video with whatever player. Then Use the "What U Hear" feature to record it as it plays. Then just clean up the audio.

Yeah, the video portions are broken up into chapters, so that makes it a bit easier. I didn't know sound cards had that functionality built in. Thanks for the advice guys.

When I want music off of a DVD that I own, I rip the DVD, extract the audio, convert the AC3 to WAV, normalize, then convert to AAC or mp3. I find it gives me the best quality. But I know nothing about "What U Hear". It just seems to me like that would be an analogue rip, which I wouldn't like. The method I use gives lossless quality sound. It just depends if the extra work is worth it to you. But once you have the tools set up, the process is simple.
