How'd I Do?

Alright, a lot of this came about by luck, but I stumbled across an auction, and ending up doing some work through trading to get a ton of games I wanted. Here's what I bought:

Part One:
Playstation 2, 1 controller, 1 PS2 memory card, 3 PSOne memory cards, FFT, FFVIII,
FF Chronicles, FF Anthologies, FFOrigins, FFX, Chrono Cross and Legend of Mana.
$146 + $17.xx shipping
Total: $163

Next, I traded the Playstation 2 for:
Earthbound
Earthbound Guide
Secret of Mana

While over at a friend's house, he said, "Hey, my mom found this the other day." He handed me Secret of Mana. I'd borrowed it to him years and years ago. Seeing as how I forgot about it, it was like receiving it for free!

Having just purchased a Super Nintendo ($25), I wanted to get some vintage games. The 2nd copy of Mana wasn't going to do me any good, so I traded it to Breath of Fire II. Legend of Mana didn't interest me quite as much as old-school RPGs did...I traded that for Lufia II.

I also found Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy II (SNES versions) at a pawn shop for $10 each.

So, I ended up with:
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Final Fantasy X
- Final Fantasy Chronicles
- Final Fantasy Anthology
- Final Fantasy Origins
- Final Fantasy VIII
- Breath of Fire 2 (SNES)
- Secret of Mana
- Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
- Chrono Trigger (SNES)
- Final Fantasy 2 (SNES)

* It should be noted that every game received in the eBay auction was the black labeled version of the game. I'm not adding any Greatest Hits game to my collection. I also realize it seems kind of redundant for buying Chrono Trigger and FF2 seeing as how I got them on the PSOne, too, but it's for collection purposes!

For roughly $166. (Factor is shipping, and you've got something more like $190.)

Anyway, I thought I did a great job. It wasn't really a Cheap Ass deal or anything, but I know I saved a ton of money from buying in bulk than getting each individually.
What condition are the SNES games in?
Well they're all cart-only, if that's what you're asking. However, most of them do look new, in terms of their label being in good shape.

Personally, that's OK with me. I think getting a box with an SNES game is a plus, but it's a waste of my time going out of my way to get them. They're not durable. Genesis, and everything beyond is worth having complete. Now, instructions would be cool to have, too, for using with a SNES Case Project -- Live! type of deal, but again, it's more of a plus than a requirement for me when it comes to NES, SNES, GB (etc) games.

That's very debatable.

If you take good care of them, they are extremely durable.

I've got complete copies of FF 2 and 3, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, and more that I bought when they came out, and to this day, the boxes are still in pristine, excellent condition.

Agreed. All my boxes were in great condition, until I threw them all away about 3 years ago. So, so stupid...

It just doesn't seem very practical using them; the cases I collect all easily snap open and shut.

Now, then again, it's not very practical to buy both the cart and CD version of a game (Chrono Trigger SNES and Chronicles PSX)....unless it's for collection purposes. So me stating that results in an epiphany on my end, of sorts, as I realize why you'd want the boxes.

Personally, I just think it'd be too hard to keep them in good condition...

Very nice. Those are some frickin awesome games.

It's funny, because after posting on Gamespot (where poor kids hang out), I was thinking that when I see a thread here, it'd be people bragging about getting a bunch of crappy budget games or something... but no, that's some damn good stuff.
