- First off, I think the first reply was correct; watch some football games. College bowl season will be starting up next week, so catch a few.
-Second, go to NFL.com; they have a pretty good section for people new to football here:

- Third, one of the unique things about college football is the prevalence of the option on offense. Understanding the option and how to read one can make you a much more effective player. On a basic level, the option is a running play where the QB has the option of keeping the ball or giving it to another back. Now, there are two general types of option offenses; old school triple option, and the new trend, the spread option. If you want to see an example of a triple option team, you are in luck; tomorrow at 11 am Navy will be playing in the EagleBank Bowl on ESPN. Navy is THE quintessential triple option team. Now, your first chance to see the spread option is going to be on the 27th, when West Virginia plays in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Now...if you aren't interested in the option, ignore all that
- Fourth, if you are just starting out and need some gameplay hints....
On offense, crossing routes are your friend in the passing game, especially in NCAA. The AI just seems to have a hard time covering them.
On defense, a good vanilla play to call if you are unsure of what type of defense you need is Cover 2 Man, out of a formation with 4 linemen (4-3, Nickel, Dime). The reason for this is that in a Cover 2 you have your two safeties deep; therefore you are safe against long passes. The 4 linemen also give you a solid front against a potential run. Cover 2 defenses are good for slowing an offense down and stopping big plays, but you will need to mix in some other plays to get the offense off the field.
Anywho, hopefully some of that is helpful. I love the NCAA series, especially Dynasty mode. I've always said that Dynasty Mode in NCAA is my favorite RPG of all time
