I finally gave in and dropped 117.98 on Suikoden 2

Well, I have complained/whined for several months in these forums about the cost of this game, and how I had a chance to buy it used for 7.99. Then i didn't know if the game was good, so i passed. I finally found out how good the game was susposed to be, and how much it was going for on ebay. Went back the game was gone.

A few weeks later I found two of these at TRU for 50, but passed because my cash flow was pretty low, and it was the prices were around 60 on ebay.

Next I found a copy PO/ Disc only for 30. But thought it was too much. :(

So I guess I had my chances and lost out like I deserved :p

I picked this up yesterday for 117.98 shipped Mint with guide.

The guide goes for a decent price so im hoping to make up some of my losses with it :).

I saw the subject, and immediately knew who posted it. Glad you are finally getting it, sorry you missed your chances at getting it cheap. $7.99?!?!?!? Ouch. The guide is a good find.

Going by a utilitarian view, you should play through the game at least 15 times to get the optimum value to make up for the price. =P

hah!

Actually this is what I told myself to justify the price.

"well when the game was 50, I was making minimum wage" "so now that I am making more cash per hour I am sorta getting a better deal for my time"

I will not be telling my Girlfriend about this purchase.

And here I was considering buying a copy of Suikoden II myself.

I don't think I could pay that much for it though. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

Sweet Christmas, that's pricey. But, considering what I spend on peripherals, maybe I shouldn't be talking...

You'll definitely have to write us a review when you're done playing.

good lord, I see suikoden 2 all the time where I live, for 19.99...seriously, I have seen at least 2 copies in every videogames store...I would have sold ya one for the bargain price of 99.99! :D

Well the important thing is that you think it's worth it. I spent $80 for my Suikoden 2, but it's just the CD. One day I'll find a case for it.

Suikoden 2 (PSX) US version, $19.99, 2 copies per store multiplied by how many stores? In what condition are they (the games, not the stores), and where is this magical land in which you live?

I got it brand new at release, and got the guide for a penny when it got marked down. It's good... but no game is $120 good. The Suikoden series rules (One and two do at least)

I really want this game, but I could never justify paying that much for it. Not that it's not worth it, mind you - I've played through it, and my wife has played it twice. I'm just hoping my usual luck will hit and I'll come across it used at a local store eventually.

Found a copy of Thousand Arms at my local EB yesterday, and that's only the second one I've seen I believe (I bought the first one :p). Grabbed a mint Valkyrie Profile recently for $40 (less after some trade-ins). So it can happen. :)

Lol, I did too! When I saw the avatar pop up on the first post, I wasn't surprised at all. Pretty funny...

I can't believe people pay so much for this game (especially the high prices for used copies). I got my copy new for only $10 a few years ago when PSone was still alive and kicking. It's one of the few times that I actually paid more for the guide ($15) than the game ($10). It's a great game, but $40 or more seems mighty high-priced to me.

Good find, I guess. But man over 100 bones for a game is out of my league. I don't care how many times I play through it, I could never justify paying that much for one single game.

Sorry, but if you pay that much for a game you are stupid.

You are only promoting the exhorbitant prices of older games that people want to label as rare.

This is truth and fact. Suikoden II is a great game, but there is no shaq-fuing need to be pay over $100 for a damn game that was going for $32-40 when it first came out.

That's still not that bad of a price for such a rare game and a guide with it. How is the game anyway i've never played it ?
It's fun and has a decent story but it's nothing epic or groundbreaking, it's just old school RPG done very well and the best Suikoden game. It does have the THE best mini game ever which is the iron chef one.
if suikoden2 is worth so much, then what about the first is it even more rare and expensive or what?
The first is considerably less expensive, but still not cheap.

iron chef mini game is bomb!

Why is Suikoden II so rare? I bought my copy brand new back when it was released at Target for $20. I played the first couple of hours and didn't really enjoy it much, its pretty much collected dust since.

Valkyrie Profile is an awesome game and well worth $100 though hehh.

Thousand Arms was OK but the plot was almost... embarrassing. I would not play this around other people. :D
Why is Suikoden II so rare?
A good question. I don't think it's rare so much as highly sought after. Apparently those that have copies tend to not get rid of them.

I assume this is in response to my post. ;) I collect PSOne RPGs - one of the few things I collect just for collecting's sake - and I mentioned Thousand Arms because you don't see it very often. I played very little of it and just didn't enjoy the battle system. If it had been fun tho, rest assured I wouldn't have been embarrassed to have played through it. I love Rhapsody, the musical RPG, and I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit it. :D

But you bring up another good point about games like Suikoden 2. Because people will pay this insane prices for the game on ebay, other people who have it and didn't like it or just want to get rid of it will either ask the same - just because they can - or never get rid of it because it's now supposedly "worth" more. Which just goes to make the game harder to find.

I remeber passing it up for 32.99 when it was semi-new in favor of Saga Frontier II...yes, I ask my friends to hurl rocks at me for it now but thank fully I got it later on for even cheaper (14.99 at EB when it was used for cheap) and the guide for 8.00 from Borders...I now cherish it...Love that game. One of my favorites. I'd pay 120 for it but I have it. Nice find. Id make a CD-R copy and not play the original.

Yeesh! A buck twenty? That's kind of steep, yo! I have a copy of the game and never finished it because I got caught up in what I assums is the last stage and I think there's no going back, and I just wasn't high enough level to survive, so the game is nigh unpassable for me.

Really? I thought Suikoden II was quite an easy game...

Oh and SaGa Frontier 2 is one of the worst games ever made.

I love Rhapsody, the musical RPG, and I'm not the least bit ashamed to admit it.

Hey I love Rhapsody too! It is kind of embarrassing to play (atleast when they break out into song.. heh) but I remember getting this the same day as Vagrant Story. Guess which one I played the most? Yeah, RHAPSODY! You are right about one thing though. I have not wanted to part with Suikoden II because its "worth money" and if I did, I would probably charge about $90 to 110 for it simply because I can get that much. I don't EVER resell games so a game would have to be worth some dough before I would get rid of it. I still have all my old Intellivision and Atari 2600 carts so I really don't understand why people do trade ins (unless they can rip off EB with cheap $5 buck games...LOL)

I know Panzer Dragoon Saga is rare, but that's because it was a limited printing. I have this too and no I'm not selling it - EVER! LOL The best way to "collect" RPGs is to buy them as they come out if its from a smaller company (Atlus, etc.) or wait for a price drop (SCEA, SquareEnix=sometimes). Although I've still no luck getting a copy of Dark Cloud 2 for $10 and no one seems to want to help me out either. LOL oh well. That's all.

Nay, retarded. Especially after seeing it at half a dozen places for much less. That game is not THAT good. I should go around and smash all the copies of Aquaman and buy the last one, so some sap will buy it for 200 dollars because it is TEHRARE! 5 years down the line.

Good find, I guess. But man over 100 bones for a game is out of my league. I don't care how many times I play through it, I could never justify paying that much for one single game.

Good find?! Good find?! WHAT? A good find would be defined as finding it for a price that is not easily accesible via ebay. Popping into ebay, typing Suikoden II and buying the first one you see does not constitute a find.

What if HE hasn't seen it anywhere for less? If you want to talk retarded, I'd say all you folks that see copies of Suikoden II everywhere for cheap but aren't buying them are the retarded ones. The game sells regularly for $60-$80 MINIMUM on eBay. Why aren't we buying up these supposed dozens of cheap copies and turning a tidy profit?

If you see the game going for less than $60, consider it the exception to the rule. I've looked into it, and I've had friends who have looked for it as well. One guy looked for this game for nearly two years and never got a deal.

Besides, we've already had the rare vs value discussion a couple of days ago. Rarity does not equal high value. Braindead 13 for the PSOne is fairly rare, but it's price rarely climbs over $20. Power Serve 3D Tennis is supposed to be even rarer, but it sells for $5.

Back when this first came out my friend left it over my house (never saw him again), a few months later I sold it for $13 ](*,) ](*,)](*,)](*,) ](*,)](*,)](*,) ](*,)](*,)](*,) ](*,)](*,)

I'm really regretting not getting this game for $20 a couple of years ago at Fred Meyers. I have the original (in great shape too), and I always wanted to play the sequel, but I passed on it. Not to mention the fact that the game is worth an insane amount of cash now. Damn.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few of these for $19.99 at EB. I also saw Suikoden III for the same price, is that worth it?

You guys act like spending this much money for a good game is a bad deal. A game is worth as much as it is worth to you, but now those people that are buying dragon ball GT final bout for 100+ just because it is rare, those people need to be killed

I found a copy of S2 last year unopened for $50 at wizards of the coast.

I bought it opened it and I've only played it that one time.

ATM i'm working on getting all the characters is S1 then all of then in S2 then S3.

^^

Honestly, I try to avoid spending more than $100 for a game system itself

dude i didn't know suikoden II was worth taht much i have the game and guide just chillin in my collection dammit i would have sold for a bargain price of 60.00 bucks dammmit!!!!!

I actually have a mint Suikoden 2 guide and MIB sealed Suikoden 2 game on ebay. Go ahead and look to see what it's going for.

I'd like to disclose a warning to viewers: some of the prices you ar about to see are disturbing and shocking, and certainly not for the faint of heart.

I love capitalism. But god bless whoever wins these, they are a pretty rare find these days, especially the guide.
