Good news...

I found a PSP in the road with World Championship Poker 2 in it!

Bad news...

The screen is cracked and the only thing you can see is a green bar at the bottom when it is powered on.

I found this while driving to work this morning. I did a double-take and was like, "Is that what I think it is?" The only thing I can think of is that some kid on a school bus must have dropped it out of the window. The backside of the PSP looks good, but the front has damage and one button is missing. I'll take pics after I get off of work. It's a shame the screen is busted, but still it was amazing to see this thing laying in the middle of the freakin' road.

Sweet you found my PSP! I dropped it while driving to work this morning. If you could have that repaired then return it to me that'd be great.... Thanks!

:) j/k but nice find.:applause: It would be even better if the repairs could be completed cheap but because the damage is in the screen I doubt it.

I wish i could find a PSP laying in the street like that, but all I've ever found was cash. :( Though, cash is much more useful, especially when you consider the condition of this thing. Plus, if you went to trade it in anyplace and the original owner reports it stolen, you're f'd.

Either way, nice find.....wish it were me though.

Do places like Gamestop or Gamerush check the serial number against some database or something? Seems like those places (especially Gamestop) aren't smart enough to implement a system capable of doing that.

I found $20 in a parking lot before.

I wouldn't trade something in that is broken anyway. If there was a name with the PSP I'd just turn it in. I found a wallet on the street in Danville, VA last year. It had credit cards, ID and everything so I immediately found a police officer and gave it to him.

It has my name on it. I had my initials engraved on the back game hatch. P.S.P

Paul Samuel Pennypacker.

I know the local pawn shop does or they run the serial by the police when you trade something in.

And Guile, I found $100 once($100 bill). I went to tie my shoe, look down, there it is just laying on the sidewalk. I've found a $100 bill a couple times in my life actually, never any wallets though, though if I did I would hand em in. After all, I know how nervous I got when I dropped mine one time.

EB bought broken systems at one point you didn get much but it was something, but I dont know if gamestop dose now.

I've had my wallet stolen before. If I ever see one laying around I turn it in.

Even if Gamestop or EB did take broken systems I wouldn't trade it. That's why I never buy used systems for game store because its too easy for people to trade a piece of shit in. I was going to buy a Game Gear from a local store and I asked them to turn it on and it didn't work.

Gamestop allows people to trade crap in almost any condition. I remember when I worked for Gamestop (well when they were Funcoland) we would get shipments of used stuff and most of it looked like ass. Customers always got pissed at my store because I wouldn't take half of the garbage they tried to trade in. I can't remember how many times people would bring in a stack of loose PS1 games (no case or manual) and they were scratched to hell.

So you looking to get rid of the memory stick and poker game? I just got a real PSP a little while ago and I wouldn't mind a small stick just for saves and as for the poker game, I suppose it's worth a shot.

The battery if official and fully working and looking new is definitely worth selling though, should get you at least $15 if it's not a chinese/knock off. The PSP as props or parts [without the battery] should get you at least $30.

Nice fine, Guile.

As someone else mentioned, maybe you could call Sony and see what a replacement would cost. That is, if you are wanting a PSP...

Of course, in that condition, they'd probably give you a different one and toss that in the garbage!

well if the serial number is registered and it was reported as lost/stolen. wouldn't he get into trouble by sending it to sony to get it fixed? don't they check serial numbers and that stuff?

Sony will not repair..especially when its a damage like that. So you can forget about that unless the system itself died but not due to cosmetic damage.

Considering you found the system and it was practically free, just buy a new PSP LCD screen and faceplate.

http://www.divineo.com/php/affstart.php?affcode=bandit&prod=zz-psp-tft - lens ($50)
http://www.divineo.cn/php/affstart.php?affcode=bandit&prod=psp-tft - lens ($35)
http://www.divineo.com/php/affstart.php?affcode=bandit&prod=zz-psp-facep - original faceplate ($29)
http://www.xboxrepairguide.com/psp-buttons-p-913.html - per button ($5). $15 for complete set.

System seems to turn on fine, backlight is fine. Just that the LCD screen and faceplate is cracked.

Haha, you win sir! You win!

if you want to take pictures up close of something, decent cameras usually have a "macro" mode so it can focus on objects close to the lens, usually this is denoted by a flower icon like so:
96990454_23d4e93860_m.jpg

look for a button or menu option with this and you're busted psp pictures should improve.

I was just looking up LCD replacements, you can easily replace it, not hard at all. Go to YouTube and take a peek. If you don't have a PSP this is like a killer find.

One time there were a group of us walking down the street, and one of the ladies found a $100 bill by the curb.

She looked around and waited to see if anyone would come back and claim it, but no one showed after a couple minutes, so she kept it.

I was a couple steps behind too :/
Oh good. So it has about as much use as one you'd buy in a store then.
Na, he said the screen's busted. So that means it's only about as useful as a functioning DS. ;)

Why not just get a new screen and faceplate set? Will probably set you back $80 or so. The screen is super easy to repalce since you have to replace the faceplate anyway. Shouldn't take you more than 25-30min max.

I may as well get a new one with a warranty for that price. If I can find the parts cheaper then I'll try to fix it.

Yeah if you can find someone willing to sell a new one for $139.99 then you are right. Otherwise a slightly beaten PSP for $80 is still not a bad deal ;)

Hell toss it on ebay you will prolly get $25 for it in that condition. That is if you don't find the prevous owner.

This reminds me of a time during high school, some time ago. We were getting a ride home from our neighborhood hippie, cruising down the highway at 75, as he was wont to do.

Suddenly my friend starts getting spastic, screaming: "DUDESTOPfuckINSTOPDOOOOOD!"

He then proceeds to hop out of the car, run back down the shoulder about a quarter of a mile, and comes back with something in the shape of a dead racoon, roughly speaking.

It was a porno magazine in the most dismal shape you've ever seen.

To this day I remain utterly impressed with this man's porno radar.
