I have 295 in trade in value, what do console do I buy??

ps3, the wii has nothing left cept for smash bros and mario kart, and No more heroes if you are into that.

Get the PS3, honestly it has lots more then the wii has. The wii is just a shovelware system. Its kinda sad.
I still have a gamecube...

myke - I want to play Super Mario Galaxy and MGS4 lol...
If there are truly two games you want to play, I'd say don't buy either.

Take a look at released games thus far and upcoming games through May or August and see what's there that you want.

yeah, its sort of like asking if you want to eat a turkey sandwich or ham sandwich, depends on your mood. if you have an HDTV (and don't have a blu-ray player) you might consider the PS3 because it will play hi-def movies as well as games.. if not, its a bit more even of a choice.

Are you more of a singe player?, or do you play with friends a lot? if so the Wii might be the way to go. I find with me I play the 360 by myself, but when friends are over we usually play Wii. you really can't go wrong either way in my opinion

Unfortunately you're right. I've had all 3 and it is a shovelware system. It's a damn shame too. I would say get a 360 if you didn't have one, a PS3 second and the Wii would be a distant third. I actually would suggest the PSP before the PS3 but that's probably an unpopular opinion here ( I am a PSP fanboy ). PS3 is really nice but I sold mine since I was buying all games that were multiplatform so I stuck with the 360. I would have been just as happy with either the PS3 or the 360 but I had a much larger 360 game collection so it won. The Wii is only used in my house when I have company over. Wii Sports is still played most of all. Sad. Actually I play the SNES more than the Wii....really sad.

MGS4
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted
Warhawk
Socom
Ninja Gaiden
Folklore - maybe

Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy
Zak and Wiki
Resident Evil 4
Super Paper Mario
No More Heroes
Zelda
Metroid

I would have said Wii hands down because of the back catalog of GC titles if you didn't already have a GC.

The Wii's library is going to improve before too long now that developers are taking it seriously due to its rapidly increasing user base.

The PS3 is a safe bet as well but I wouldn't consider it unless you have an HDTV it looks like ass on an SDTV.

360 if you don't have one to play games...

POS3 if you need a BluRay player...

Wii if you want Super Smash Bros Brawl...

...just my opinion :).

Well I'm looking at my collection of 8 Wii games and my collection of 2 PS3 games, and I'd have to say that the better option right now is the Wii.

Look at the releases for the wii, how can you say they are taking it serious?
You sir do not know what you are talking about.

I must admit, im so down with Bob Ross painting.

I have a similar collection, but its mainly because I don't want to spend $60 on games.

Holy shit, I thought you made the Bob Ross game up. Daammmnnn.

Anyway, I do think that the PS3's release calendar is stronger, but it's difficult to justify buying a system with so little currently available on it. If you're a patient type, the PS3 is probably the better option.

All these sorts of discussions make me glad I have all of the systems.

I say you hold onto your credit, and wait for the fall when A. Price Drop on PS3/More Games on PS3, multiplat finally starts to become better on ps3.
I agree. Look at the release list. It looks fantastic to me.
Well, we all know how you are to technology:

;)

DJ, I don't know what to tell you. Both have good outlooks, and both have decent catalogs. If the Blu-Ray player has any meaning to you (WWE's looking into releasing on BD soon, FWIW), then you should go for that. If you don't have an HDTV, there's no sense in getting a PS3 yet.

EDIT: There's a Bob Ross game? or is it ? Perhaps both?
You're out the door with 3 additional full priced games with the Wii before you can get a PS3 with no games.
Or I could buy a ps2, or a gamecube, not have to wave my hands in the air like a jackass, and call it a day.
Or I could buy a ps2, or a gamecube, not have to wave my hands in the air like a jackass, and call it a day.
But, it's fun to wave your hands like a jackass :)

Well, I think the first question is, do you have a 360? If not, then all the 3rd party games side with the PS3.

How I would side it is this way, if you don't have a 360, and have no interest in one, I'd go for the PS3. If you do have a 360, I'd lean towards the Wii.

I got a Wii for Christmas, to compliment my 360. I love it. Now, Nintendo is Nintendo, so they will have 2-3 great releases per year, but that is about it. You will go months without playing it. But, those handful of games that are worth buying are well worth playing.

The PS3 will have more games at the end of the day (with the 3rd party games).

The Bob Ross game is fictional at this point. First it had a developer, looking for a publisher. Now its apparently got a few publishers interested, but no developer anymore? I dont know. Don't count on it.
Or I could buy a ps2, or a gamecube, not have to wave my hands in the air like a jackass, and call it a day.
Wow man no games on your system right now or what? If you are seriously worried about what you look like playing a game, then you probably wouldn't enjoy a Wii.

This past year was great... I think it will be remembered fondly actually. With it being put behind us there are some pretty good games on the Wii as the OP has pointed out.

I do think it comes down to what type of TV you have now. If you are not HD then get the Wii, don't go through some of these PS3 games on an SDTV.

I went from a pretty big anti Sony person to owning both a PS3 and PSP in about 2 months time. I had been looking at them for some time up to that point. I would not sell my Wii though. I don't get tons of game time so what comes out on it for me is just right.

There are some good looking games coming up for it and its fun with groups of people.

The PS3 is fun as well, I really don't think the Graphics of either the PS3 or 360 are just phenomenal yet though. I mean they are getting close to what we have witnessed in cut scenes, but not quite there yet.

Anyway I am rambling.

The PS3 releases are finally coming together this year, so there's good reason to be excited about it.

The Wii has some great games already, and will continue getting great games, so you'd have to be a fool to dismiss it like some people in this thread are.

It's a tough choice, and only one you can make by comparing your own personal tastes with the release calendar, but personally I'd probably go with the PS3 (though I'm biased: I already have a Wii).

Then again, it also depends on how much cash you have. You could buy a Wii and be playing all those great titles immediately, before you could even afford the PS3.

If you can wait until MGS4, then you might be able to hold out for the price drop.

And then of course, there's Blu-Ray movies. If you're interested in HD films and you have a nice HDTV, then just buy the PS3 and you'll have a wonderfully justified purchase. If you don't want Blu-Ray movies, then I wouldn't be able to justify the price, but if you do, it's a much easier decision.

Tough call. As others have said, if you have an HDTV, and Blu-ray movies are appealing to you, go with the PS3. If not, I'd stick with the Wii. Both systems are good, so it really comes down to which one you want more, and that's something no one here can help you with.

explain to me these good wii games, that arent ps2 ports and will make good use of the wii controller.

I know about Mario Kart and Smash, please explain something else. (I also know about NMH)

Im just pissed because I have this wii, that stares at me all the time, that I waited in a line for, and Ive got what, 2 games for it that I like. Galaxy and Fire Emblem.

Buy me a DS Lite, and then treat yourself to one too. ;)

But really, if you have an HDTV I would go with the PS3 for sure. Otherwise it's based on what you like. Personaly I am not a big fan of the Wii and have a large PS2 collection so I would go with the PS3. (60 or 80gb)

If you have an kids in the house the Wii might be a bit more friendly for them also.

Medal of honor 2 Heroes, Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles?
House of Dead 2/3 Remake (releasing soon).

Endless Ocean, Smarty Pants, Zack & Wiki, RE4, How was Battalion Wars? Mario Galaxy is a given, Smash Bros is sure not to disappoint. I actually had a good time with heatseeker and the controls helped a lot. Wii sports is pretty kick ass.

Tomb Raider is said to have some good implementation (mine is still sealed, as I said I don't get a ton of time). I don't know how Journey into Nights implemented the controller, but it was supposed to be pretty decent.

Excite Truck is a pure blast, I have literally bought that game three times, and everyone that I have handed the controller has loved the game. It is hugely overlooked IMHO.

Sonic and the Secret Rings was terrible in my opinion, but it had some decent reviews and was said to be the best Sonic game in a long while. Red steel was decent for a launch game.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is an ablsoute blast and any port of it to any other system must suck compared to the Wii.

I think you are getting confused as now most games are ported from Wii to the PS2. If anything the Wii has extended Sony's PS2 lifespan.

My question is why does it have to implement the controller (more than any other system) just to make the game good or fun? Cant a normally controlled game be fun, I would think so.

I try to avoid these completely pointless flame bait remarks, but today I bit.

If you buy any nintendo system expecting blood, guts, all this "adult" & "manly" content then you are buying it for the wrong reason. Manhunt 2 (while not the best game) did do some pretty interesting things with the controls, if thats what your after.

Super Mario Galaxy
Twilight Princess
Zack & Wiki
RE4
Metroid Prime 3
WarioWare
Paper Mario
Geo Wars Galaxies
Wii Sports
No More Heroes
Smash Bros

Off the top of my head.

Honestly I dont need another ww2 fps. Metroid is alright although it was short, to much backtracking.
Umbrella Chronicles I rented and beat.
House of the Dead 2 and 3 I finished on Dreamcast and Xbox
Endless Ocean looks boring as all hell to me. I dont wanna take pictures of fish.
Smarty Pants just looks like another triva game.
Zack and Wiki is alright, it gets kinda boring after awhile because it feels like the same thing over and over again.
RE4 I finished on my gamecube(4 Times) and ps2, and pc.
I didnt like battalion wars on the cube, and the wii mote doesnt "fix" bad gameplay.
Got Galaxy
Gonna Get Smash
Wii Sports gets old after 30 mins.
I hear Garnett on 1up say Tomb Raider on the Wii is horrible, and to play the 360 version.
Journey into Dreams sucks hard, and ill be importing the ps2 remake of the original.
I found Excite Truck to be fun for the first 10 mins I played it. Then I was finished with it.
Red Steel was complete barbage. Watch Broken Pixels if you dont think so.
Sonic was better then the next gen counterpart, but thats not saying much.
Rayman is a minigame compliation that you can finish in about 2 hours.

You say why do games have to implement the contoller to be good.
They Dont.
Thats why some of the best wii games use the controller a minimal amount.

Sorry for the long dragged on post, but no one can answer my question of what is coming out besides smash and mario kart.

I'd go PS3 personally (though I have a Wii and 360 and no PS3).

PS3 has some good games coming this year, and now that Blu Ray has won the format war, I'd go PS3 to have a BR player.

Plus, the Wii is only $250, which is a smaller hit on the wallet down the road if you end up wanting to buy both.

I've also just not found a lot that I liked on the Wii. Just Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda, and Super Paper Mario. Of course RE4 is great, but I played the GC version on the Wii before the port was announced. But stilll, I LOVE those first party franchises, and I'm glad I have a Wii to play them on. So if you're the same way, then maybe the Wii is worth a harder look.
Rambling..
I have a hard time even believing you own a wii. If you can beat Rayman in 2 hours you are some kind of gaming bad ass.

You have the PS3 and Xbox 360 in your avatar nothing on the wii is listed.

What else are you looking forward to on the other systems?

Anyway carry on with the trolling.

I do own a wii, but thats because of my love for fire emblem.

Im really looking foreward to mario kart wii, and smash. I want something to look foreward to, but since DMK crushed my dreams of bob ross paint, I want to find something new.

On PS3, im looking foreward to DMC4, Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, infamous, and Resistance 2.

360 im looking foreward to Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, Lost Oddyssey, GTA4, Brutal Legend, and Condemend 2.

Wait until February 1st-ish to see if the $300 PS3 rumor is true. If not, get a Wii and get a PS3 next time the price drops.

I'll be getting a PS3 if this price drop rumor is true OR if I find a 20GB used.
Or I could buy a ps2, or a gamecube, not have to wave my hands in the air like a jackass, and call it a day.
So true

I would say 360 first choice if you don't have one (even tho you didnt ask). 2nd choice is PS3, then the Wii.

All are good consoles.

The PS3 still looks great on an SD set. The problem is that some games have text that is barely readable.

Also, if you're into sports games, you might want to think about the PS3 over the Wii.
