I have a Problem...

ok, on my brother's PS2 there is a crappy thing that happened concerning a "disc read error" and was pretty common from the playstations. My Gamecube is having a similar problem where the game will run fine for about 10 minutes and then make a grinding noise and say that the disc cannot be read (no its not the laser!). My warrenty has expired as i bought the 'cube on launch, (therefore it takes $50 to fix) so im not worried about breaking a "seal" if there is one, or voiding a warrenty. My question is does anyone know how to fix this problem, or has anyone encountered a similar problem.
