I don't plan on getting cable or dsl anytime soon and just about every new game that's online for the PS2 is broadband only. I got it from a used system but I have the disc and everything but I have yet to use the adapter. Should I just get rid of it?

There really aren't that many dial-up games aside from the majority of EA Sports' stuff. If you aren't into those, and won't be getting high-speed, then it won't do you much good.

You'll be needing your network adapter when you decide to put a hard-drive in so you can use HDloader or HDadvance. Even if you don't get HDLoader or HDadvance, it's still not worth selling. You're better off waiting on the off chance that you'll get broadband sometime in the next year or so.

Ugh, I have the same problem...I only have dial up in my area so I'm stuck playing NOTHING online with my ps2. The only game I'm interested in getting that is dialup compatible is Final Fantasy, and I'm waiting for the price to drop on that first. However, I'm still keeping my network adaptor for the day when my area finally gets high speed internet.

damn guys it must suck if your area doesnt have broadband. i for one could never go back to dial up. infact i want even faster

i guess thug would be a good dial up game.

OMG no shit! Here I live in the entertainment capital of the world, and half the city is still on dialup! WTF!!!??? I can get everything I want in Vegas 24 hours a day except for a high speed internet connection? There are million dollar houses within walking distance of my house, and no one seem that interested in providing high speed net service to this area? That is my biggest disappointment with Las Vegas. Never again will I move to an area that does not have broadband ever again. Even the shittiest areas in southern California had broadband.

I had the WORSE dial up ever. Capped at 28kbps no matter which ISP I had. The phoneline sucked. Also I used Earthlink back then, those queers would disconnect me once every 4-8 hours. 56k isn't too bad browsing websites, 28k was horrible, glad i have cable/dsl at my area. Well , cable sucks now since comcast took over it from AT&T who took over from @home.

Anyways, how come I haven't seen any decent, if any at all, online fighting games? There are games that you can play on PC from emulators and they work pretty good.

you sure mk deception for ps2 has online? I thought doa ultimate was only for xbox. I didn't like guilty gear x2 much.

o dam what was i thinking of. i was mentioning all xbox online games lol...i do most of my online gaming on xbox

nk deception will be online for ps2 as well but im sure only broadband.

Try some older games. For instance, pick up Twisted Metal Black GH and get the online version packed in with it. There's also Tribes, if you're hurting for another online game (it's not that bad really). Then you can also look into the Tony Hawk games, which I believe also support dial-up. There are actually quite a few games that don't require broadband, but most of the better games do, however.

Check there for a list of online games. It also indicates if the games require broadband or not. Personally, I'd say keep it, as you may end up regretting selling it for a few dollars.

HDLoader is ample justification for having the Network Adapter. I have little or no interest in using my PS2 online despite it being within ten feet of a 24-port switch that in turn leads to my DSL line via a router. I'm just not that interested in multiplayer most of the time and there hasn't been any downloadable material for single player that I found enticing enough to want a Sony HDD instead of the 127 GB partition I get with a third party drive.

Here's something about Tony Hawk I had to discover the hard way during it;s beta. The moden will work fine if you dial directly, but because I share internet on a 56k it causes too much interferance SPECIFICALLY for gamespy's network which is what they use for all their TH games.

Otherwise I've had my PS2 sharing 56k through a hub and playing FF11 with no problems what so ever... unless my stupid brother is downloading stuff on his computer an eating the bandwidth.

If Monster Hunter continues to be as it was during beta it should also work fine on 56k.
