dispite hearing alot of bad things about it, and im so glad i trust my insticnts more than other peoples opinions ^^

this is a great 2d fighter. is it a rehash? yes, but if you know that going into it, its hard to be dissapointed.

so far the biggest problems i have are some of the cpu characters are way too cheap (dimitri comes to mind) but i havent really played much of the dark stalkers series, except the saturn version, so perhaps thats just how he is.

its a very solid 2d fighter that just gets a bad rap since its not guilty gear xx
 
I got my copy for 9.00 and only played like 30 minutes of it because I really disliked it.


Personally I know how you feel though. I hated SVC chaos in the arcades because I was playing on the shittiest conversion cab ever, and the reviewers were not too kind either. Once I got it for the Xbox though, me and my friend have been playing a lot of it and really enjoying it.

Just because a game does not have new graphics or gameplay modes does not make it a bad game

its nothing really new, but i like the whole swapping between rounds and the roster is...intresting...to say the least.

my favorite capcom fighter this gen is still cvs2

i also picked up mark of the wolves today, time to get that a spin!

Mark of the Wolves is one of the best fighting games ever. I love that game, but then again I love the Fatal Fury series
 
Where did you guys get it so cheap? I have been waiting to pick this up for $20 or less. I am suprised it hasn't dropped yet at the major retailers.

that is full price for the game.

I picked mine up at a local shop and it had a few scratches (does not bother me though as I wanted to play it)

I will commend punq on his MoW find, because that was an awesome deal
 
wow, after playing 3 rounds of motw (as kim jae) this is a really great fighter!

i got both of these games at different local stores.
 
I bought this one and the second I popped it in I just started spewing....I couldnt stop until my Girlfriend turned off the TV....

Could it be related?
 
The only dc fighters i need now are:

Jojos Bizzare Adventure
King of Fighters Evolution
King of fighters Dream Match
Project Justice
Street Fighter Alpha 3

which other than PJ are IMO the easier to locate of the dc fighters.(did i mention i picked up a (still) sealed copy of SF3:DI for $0.90?) ^^

Hey Case, have you played any fighting games on Live recently? I haven't played in about a year, but I remember CvS2 being full of pullers. Is this still as bad a problem?

I have not played any of my fighting games on Live yet because I am waiting to get my headset adaptor from Stealthy. When I do, I will try and remember to bump this with a response.
 
About capcom fighting evolution..I was wondering if you guys noticed these things:

-Balancing issues, especially between some redearth and sf3-sf2 characters, as well as some grooves being unbalanced
-The game toting to be sporting the capcom franchises MOST popular characters? All the characters i was expecting to be able to play as were in the damn backgrounds! The choice of characters was just bizzare.
-The nice 10 year old darstalkers sprites and animations, untouched by capcom as usual
-The bizzare end boss. How lazy can you get?
-Animation removed from the sf3 characters to make them look more like the other, more 'primitive' characters
-Pointless extra character..Who played strangely like a certain girl from KOF
-Crap music..Completely uninspired
-SUCKKKK extra characters..not another darkstalker with 5 frames of animation! d'oh!
-Several cases of control input lag

I just thought capcom got REALLY lazy with this one. The quality of this game compared to the last real fighting game they produced, Capcom vs SNk 2 is just absurdly bad. I think that the whole project was a rush job to rake in some cash for some of their other projects..and hell, it shows. This idea had great potential, but it just got ruined by a lack of quality control for content and gameplay.

I totally agree with you on all your points except the music. I thought it was far worse than crappy since it sounded like the music was ripped from a KOF game
 
Capcom Fighting Evolution didn't do anything for me. It was fun for a day or two, but nothing serious. I did enjoy using the Red Earth characters, but it's extremly unbalanced. And some of the characters they picked from their series are lame, like Anakaris.

Good job with MOTW. Next to Street Fighter 3 it has some of the best animation in a 2D fighter. I got really addictted to Gato.

Me too. Can't wait for V to come out on any system. The SS series is my favorite 2d fighter series next to Street Fighter. Thanks for the optimistic outlook on Capcom Fighting Evolution punq. I've been holding out on getting this since I've been looking for a cheap price on it and that I kept hearing how bad it was. Only problem is, is that I haven't see the game at any major retailer for some time. I was going to use this one Gift Card I had received from BB (one of the 29.99 or higher coupon ones sadly) but they didn't have the game so I still haven't used it since I can't find anything I want that is 29.99.
 
If I see a copy for 9 or 12 ill make sure to pick it up, I love street fighter and in a screenshot I saw what looked like a giant $$$$ing trex, dunno what thats about but id like to fight a trex with ryu so its worth it just for that alone.
