I work for a small independently owned Video Game shop that mostly deals with used games, but we do on occasion bring in newer games that are supposed to be hits. Frankly our distributor sucks a big one and we generally get games 5 days to week after release. I would appreciate any insight you guys can give.

Thanks a bunch in advance

If you were big enough, they would come and find you. But because of your presumed size of business, you may very well be stuck with who you have. Most independents have to deal with the same distributer and distributer-neglect issue. My advice would be to simply get a Costco and Sam's Club membership, and bring your retailer-tax form and buy your new games there. Then return anything that you don't or don't sell.

Most small games stores make crap on new games anyway and rely on the sales of used games to keep the business running.

Using this method, the owner is virtually *guaranteed* to sell every copy (since they can be returned). And, ideally, it'll get people in to get the new releases. Half of running a business is just getting people in the door.

As a video game store owner myself, I can tell you having multiple distributors is KEY to the success of your business. That way, you can guarantee a game will be in stock. Keep in mind that with new games you will only make 15-25% profit. About 1/3 of that will be shipping. Your boss is going to have to be willing to bite the bullet to have the new game for that customer. What exact;y do you guys need? I am reopening my store soon and I will also have a wholesale division as well. Try Jack of all Games first. If they are not what you are looking for PM me and I will direct you elsewhere. What is the name of the store?

I hope this will help.

I am not quite sure who we are using now, I think its some independant crew of a few ppl on the west coast. I will definately tell the owner about Jack of all games though. I really appreciate the responses I have received this is more than helpful. Personally I just started working here and I am trying to make a good impression, I am even enlightening my co-workers about the existance of CAG. The name of the store is Replay Games in Denver, CO on 14th and Krameria.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner I've been pretty busy
