I need some advice about some trades i'm thinking about...

CAGiversary!
Ok, I'll be very honest, in a nut shell I need money to pay my taxes. 275 to be exact.

Now I have a 20gig PS3, and a Xbox 360 Core, with a HD

I am thinking about trading one of them in...just to pay off my taxes, and to buy it again when I get my income tax.

Now, I know 20 gig PS3's are no longer made...so I'm leaning towards my Xbox 360, but what do you all think?

I hate this time of year...

Eric

You are talking about local taxes? i'd go with the 360. Also it is possible to use the refunds from your income tax. your late fees will be minimal.. hell I paid some local taxes a year late and the late fee was like 55 bucks

Trading it in where?

And did you do your own taxes, or have someone do them for you? These days, I'm more inclined to trust Turbotax than H.R. Block or some other provider!

Hmm well it depends on what you mean by trading in I guess. EB/GameStop will give you like $150 (just trade in for store credit) for the 360. If you want cash, they will take an additional like 10%-20% off of the trade in so I'm thinking they'll give you between $120-$135 in cash. They may take more off more for all I know, but you will need to trade in more to get to the $275 mark.

Unless you can sell the 360 to one of your friends for like $200 and then trade in a few games with the additional 30% trade in credit, you might be able to hit your goal. Good luck man!

Also if you are ending the year having to pay taxes, you should probably look at your W4 and change it so more money is withheld form your paycheck. Seriously reduces the hassle of having to save to pay your taxes, especially if, as it seems in your case, you don't have any savings...

You could try listing it on craigslist with a lower price than others and your story, and hope somebody wants it. Or as the above poster said, sell it to a friend for a hefty discount.

It's not my federal taxes, its my local tax that everyone has to pay.

My Federal is always fine and I get a nice chunk back, and I may end up just using some of that money to pay my local tax, I just dont like leaving them sit so to speak.

Id get rid of the 360. The 20gigs are pretty rare, and worth WAY more on ebay.

You could get rid of the 20gig and find a 60gig then. Thatd also be a way to go.

But 360's are relatively cheap now, so in all honesty, get rid of the 360 and rebuy it later.

Why not trade the console to a friend/family member for the needed sum as you know a safety deposit? Then when you get your taxes back, give them the money and you get your console back. If that is not possible.

Try craigslist.

--- Edit ---
I hit submit prematurely. I would sell the 360 since it is easier to find.

the 360, Plus the HD drive will bottom out in value soon if not already. I think eventually they will go back up some for cheap PC USB HD players (pirating etc). But for the next while they will decline.

Plus with therecent failures of the 360 just dump it and rebuy later hopefully when they get the other issues fixed?
