I-pod touch

sotb_96

CAGiversary!
Any feelings on the I-pod touch? How well does the wireless internet work? How are the games and can u recommend some?

Wireless internet works great and I love the screen. I haven't downloaded any games because I've got a PSP and DSLite, though. I could easily recommend the iPod Touch if you don't have the option of getting an iPhone. Get the 16gig minimum, though. The 8gig fills up QUICK especially for videos.

I have a 2nd gen 32gb, absolutely love it. Only complaint is that it has issues auto-connecting to wi-fi on connections you've used before (at least, mine does.) Otherwise, it's pretty much perfect, imo.

There are some fun time waster games and nice apps, but honestly, I can't even think of their names off the top of my head because I haven't played any of them since the first week I bought it. There's a panel-de-pon clone that's pretty sweet.

i have a jailbroken 1st gen 8gb touch..i LOVE it.....

cydia and installer are awesome along with other activities that apple doesnt want you to do

the web browser absolutely rocks along with integrated email

i use it last for music to be honest and it basically replaced my laptop

games i have installed right now:

Caissa Chess
Solebon Solitaire
Super Pong 2
Block Breaker 2 Deluxe
Bubble Bash
Space Buster
Glyph
TV Show King
Bix

Applications:

Flashlight (the one from cydia, not the app store)
Pandora (Must have)
vSnax
Movies (Flixster)
The Weather Channel
Poof (cydia/installer)
Winterboard (cydia/installer - theme customizer/changer)

I'm pretty happy with mine. The battery life sucks with wi-fi on. Don't expect to get much more than a 2-3 hours with wi-fi on.

No Podcasts on the iTunes mobile store sucks too, but you can still get them from your computer.

my wifi is always on and i easily get 5-6 hours of bettery life while playing games and 20+ while playing music

I dunno mine seems to drain pretty quickly when I have it on, or when I'm browsing the web.

Maybe i need the battery replaced, it's a 1st gen 16gb.

If you browse/download stuff, the battery dies quickly. It's like 2 or 3 hours of browsing and games for me if wi-fi is on without any idle time.

to be clear I still am very happy with the iPod touch. It's nice to have the music controls at hand when you double tap the home button.

got some new games today..here's my current list:

Caissa Chess
Solebon Solitaire
Bubble Bash
Glyph
Bix
Meteor
Quartz 2 Deluxe
Space Buster
TV Show King
Collapse! Chaos

these just came out in September. There might be a price drop next winter, and a refresh the winter after that, and a price drop the winter after that, and a refresh the winter after that, and so on...there's never a perfect time to buy.

i just got the following:

Live Poker
iTD
Spin
Trace
UNO
Price Is Right

havent played iTD yet but so far they are all pretty awesome games...especially live poker and uno with online multiplayer

I'm actually thinking about getting one for school... just for the web browser.

Next semester, I'll have a lot of gaps between classes. These gaps (30-40 minutes) aren't long enough to do much (I can use one to grab lunch, that's pretty much it) so I've wanted an iPod Touch to browse the web using the school's wi-fi. Sounds like it works well, I'll have to get one.

BTW, does it work like a regular browser? Like say, can I save a picture with it or if I take a picture, can I upload it to flickr? And does it work with flash sites GameTrailers? It seems like most non-computer based browsers (like the Wii, or the PS3.. which can handle it but not well) can only handle YouTube and nothing else.

The touch doesn't have a camera. You can't save pics off the internet either (im pretty sure). It is not compatible with flash (although there are apparently people out there working on it). It does have a ton of apps though. You should download iTunes and have a look around the app store. Im pretty sure there are flickr apps but im not sure what they do.

The best thing about the iPhone/iPod Touch is the app store where you can get tons of free apps and all the apps they have in development.

The browser itself is great because its so flexible - nice big screen, pinch zoom and its just the most advanced mobile browser. The biggest drawback is the lack of being able to copy/paste and the lack of flash... for now.

sorry, i have to disagree... i got the iPod touch as a gift and my first impression was "wow, this thing is slick." However, after using it for music, video and internet, not much to it really (i don't game on this thing, sorry, PSP and DS are way better)...

I liked the touch interface, especially pictures and music. Browsing the internet is cool, but freaking slow! If you're outside, then yeah, understandable, but at home? Forget it... i do it on my PC.

I don't have the jailbroken or whatever the hacked thing is, but managing media files on that thing is tedious! Unless everything is in sync with your PC... Otherwise, you gotta use Summary or something, but then everything on the iPod touch get deleted... Anyhow, unlike my other portable media players, iPod touch doesn't show up as an external device, so there's no drag and drop...

the ipod touch isnt a gaming device. It just happens to have a lot of people making games for it. As for drag and drop - there is no disk mode for the ipod touch/iphone. There really is no need for it since you just drag and drop onto itunes and it will sync whatever it is to your ipod.
