I was playing inFAMOUS last night while downloading some of the new demos that hit the PSN store then all of a sudden my PS3 shuts off on its own. I figured okay, maybe my downloads trigger the shut off since I did have it set to turn off after the downloads were complete. I turned back on my PS3 after and continued playing without a problem.
Now I started playing again today and maybe a hour of playing it shuts off again. Now whenever I boot up the game it shuts off within 10 minutes of gameplay. I tried putting in Motorstorm: PR and it works fine. I can access the XMB and play my PSN titles fine. I also tried putting in Uncharted and it does the same thing, shuts off within a few minutes of gameplay. I've looked online for possible solutions and I've tried a few and none of them work. I tried moving my PS3 into a well ventilated place and it doesn't do a thing. I vacuumed out the vents. I also tried doing a Restore File System and that didn't help. It's a full BC 60GB PS3 that I got around Christmas of '06 so the warranty is out of the question. I really don't want to pay $150 for repairs. I'd rather just buy a slim PS3.
Does anyone have any other possible solutions? Could this be a sign of the YLOD?
