This is just the tip of the iceberg, as $45 million of $50 million in RNC campaign funding this year is allocated to "attack ads."

Expect to see a lot of fearmongering and emphasis on the following lines:

1)"House Speaker Pelosi" (since she polls very low outside of her district)

2)the fearful suggestion that Congress would act to impeach the President (evidently, the RNC missed recent polling that shows a touch over 30% support investigations into impeachment, which is higher than the public polled when Clinton *was* impeached)

3)that a Democrat-controlled congress would create the "gridlock" congress of the Reagan years. Of course, my mother used to lament the Democrat-controlled Congress coupled with a Democratic President (Clinton from January 1993-1995), referring to it as "diarrhea congress," where nothing gets held back and there are no stops to ensure balance and open criticism. We have *certainly* had that for the past 6 years, so, "gridlock" or not (you can't logically argue that Congress prevented anything from getting done at the same time that Reagan was an amazing president who did lots of wonderful things), it's an improvement from the current "rubber stamp" (I prefer the "diarrhea" metaphor, as it's appropriately disgusting) congress

4) Tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts. Because it is something that resonates very well with the American people, and I lament that Cheney was right when he said deficits don't matter. They do, of course, but not to individual taxpayers. It doesn't matter that we'll have to raise the national debt ceiling again, at least once, before Bush leaves office, and it doesn't matter that he's outspent Reagan's eight years of overspending in merely five (and, although a youth at the time, I clearly recall public disgust with the massive increase of the national debt under Reagan's watch; what happened to that attitude?).

I'm totally shocked that the Sept. 11th edition doesn't have Bin Laden being sworn into office on the cover.

gridlock? Or "Constipated Congress"? The site is cute, by the way. Nothing like a little sprinkle of FUD to keep the democratic gears turning.
