If Nintendo Began to Create NES/SNES Games Again...

False Hope

CAGiversary!
If Nintendo decided to begin producing/creating games to go on the old school consoles, you would feel...?

Disheartened, because the install base for those consoles is pretty small (they were huge at the time, but so much of it has been garage sold or thrown away) and it would mean that Nintendo was giving up any chance of competing in the current-gen market. PUtting those games on the old-fashioned carts would be the ultimate frivolous novelty gesture, especially because the Cube plays Nintendo games perfectly and approximates SNES games pretty well (albeit at lowish resolution) via the Game Boy Player, a system for which a lot of NES-ish and SNES-ish platformers and RPGs are still being released.

I could see a limited-edition 25th Anniversary NES console with a few games as support, I suppose, but only if the Revolution has been released and has successfully rocked the gaming world.

It would be a lost cause at this point. I think they need to up the ante on the GBA even though they released a lot of old content none of it is really anything new.

They should seriously consider doing some classic collections. They re-release games all the time for the GBA why not just make collections for the CUBE?

Yeah I think they should either release direct ports to the DS at a lower price than regular DS games or they should make a few kick ass compilations for the Cube. I would totally buy the Cube comps [dont have a DS].

They only stopped production of the NES(Famicon) a year or two ago in Japan, I think, so I'm sure they could theoretically still make games for it if they wanted to. I'd put more faith in a plug-in TV games like system with built-in games like the thingy they released in China last year.

If they made snes games again I'd be happy that I finally have large amounts of new games I like. N64 was pretty good, they had a style of 3d platformers that seems to have died, they used to basically be 2d games except in 3d, but it lacked rpg's. The last great stand alone system (meaning that I would be happy with just that, the n64 was great but I need a steady diet of 2d rpg's) was the saturn, and the snes/turbo duo/genesis before that. PSone is good for rpg's, though none of my top 8 or so favorite rpg's are for it, but I wouldn't want it for much else.

GBA is good for 2d rpg's, but they seem to have forgotten how to make quality old style 2d side scrollers and shooters.

I'm a video game dinosaur, I have failed to adapt to the current generation. I will play a few things here and there that are very unique (steel battalion, dog's life, katamari damacy etc.), the rest of the current stuff I play could very well have been made 10 years ago (disgaea, la pucelle etc.). I wish we never went beyond the saturn, strong 2d, diverse (though lack of popularity prevented it from having a huge lineup), and capable of 3d but only when necessary (panzer dragoon series for example).
