Ikaruga

Last night, I picked up a new, sealed copy of Ikaruga that was sitting in a pile of games at my local Wal-Mart for 15 bucks. I've heard a lot of good things about the game, and while I'm very happy with getting it, I'm not sure if I want to hang on to it yet. Ebay prices seem to be around $40, but I'm not sure if I want to sell it. So, for anyone who has played it or has experience with it, is it worth opening now even if I'm not very skilled at games (I hear its a hard game), or should I sell it, or possibly save it sealed for a collection? Thanks in advance.

If you sell that game, I'll slap you personally. Its the best shooter ever made. Take your time and LEARN the game. It takes a long time to master but its so fun to see how many chains you can get without dying.

If you want to read more about or talk to more people about the game I suggest going over to www.ikaruga.co.uk. They have everything you need to know there.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again (hell, I think I'm quoted in someone's signature): Ikaruga is the most fun you will ever have sucking at a game.
I just got it today, It's incredibly awesome. Play it.

I can't get past lvl 3 though >>;
Go to that link I posted above, they have videos and stuff. So you can look at what other people do, you can then learn and just make your own strategy.

Ebay it and find a used copy...not too hard to obtain...I saw a used one for $12 at a pawn shop once...didnt buy it since I already owned it....point is that you'll come across it again eventually.

Ikaruga ownz. botticus is right, it's fun to actually being suck playing that game.

I finally beat the game in easiest mode... maybe i will try hard mode or something :D

Currently playing - Radiant Silvergun and it's almost as hard.

Ok thanks for all the advice. I've decided to keep it, it will be less hassle, and the game sounds great. Thanks again.

dont open, keep it to sell later. people are just hopping onto the ikaruga bandwagon, its not as good a game as they make it seem. its a decent shooter, nothing to go crazy over

Haha, Americanpierg might have a point -

But keep in mind, used and new ones on ebay end up nearly the same price - used cheapest about 30 - 50 ish, new ones about 40 - 60 depends.. meaning if you ever going to keep this game, might as well keep your new one. Buying a used one isn't much cheaper unless you got it off gamestop for 24.99.

I would suggest you do the same as i did (thanks botticus for his advice)... use gamestop.com search for a used copy, get it :D

Consider this game is so rare, i don't think you can rent it anywhere.

But yeah... this game might worth more later.. who knows.

Radiant silvergun (worth a ton) -> Ikraruga (now 40-60$) -> Next game (??)

It's certainly worth playing. I could sell my mint complete copy for quite a bit, I'm sure, but I think I'll wait till I find another copy.

Just remember, multiple opinions > 1 opinion, though they're all just opinions.

next game = Chaos Field lol

i bought 3 copies at 19.99, 1 to play and 2 to keep sealed, against gamespots review becuase i figured all shooters should be similiar and it couldnt be THAT bad... but wow no wonder the price drop came so soon...this game is HORRIBLE... the ship is too big and the visuals feels like im gonna get seizures...but hell no ones gonna buy it and hopefully theyll pull production and the game will turn rare and then everyone will say its a great game too and buy my200 dollar copies, keeping my 2 sealed in a safe place for now

Yeah I have been looking at chaos field... the visual seizure thing is annoying...
Radiant Silvergun... everytime before those boss characters show up with that super flashing warning sign I think it's gonna make you blind. Just like that pokemon incident happend in Japan couple years ago.

Indeed

I got a copy of ikagura during a liquidation sale at the zone, its a pretty fun game for 2 players but overall it becomes played out. Ill probably ebay mine when it becomes worth it.

I thought this game was great (it's in my top 10 games of this generation). But, it's a classic shooting game. If you haven't enjoyed shooters in the past, I don't think this one will change your mind.

You say you suck at games, that's fine. If your not too worried about your score, you can make progress. As you get better, you can run your score through the roof, and that'll be fun too.

So, I think it's worth playing. But, you have to realize it's a short game and it does get hard. The joy of it (like all shooters) is slowly improving, and watching your score go up. This is truely old school gaming this generation.

I'll have to find this before it gets too impossible. I need it for the Wii!!!

found it mint + complete today at EB...now to bide my time before the wii comes out...

I dunno, guys... it was nice to see a throw-back to the old style space shooters, but I've been there and done that.

Speaking as an older game who has knocked back his share of stout ales and whiskey, I found that Ikaruga demands a level of patience, time, and skill that I'm not able to put forth any more. I play games to relax these days... If I wanted to be frustrated and pissed off, I'd find another girlfriend.

Yeah, but current girlfriends seem to get especially upset when you get extra ones. My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) had little problem with me getting Ikaruga.

i find Ikaruga to be relaxing...maybe it's because when I lose, I know it's my own fault and not just shitty programming. And that it isn't too easy and it's just hard enough to keep you challenged.
