So I went to watch my new Spiderman Blu-rays yesterday on my PS3, but nothing came on the screen. So I plugged in my component cables and it was working again, I then tried to switch it back to HDMI... no luck. I have tried 4 different cables, and tried the PS3 auto HDMI setup thing where you hold down the power buton until the second beep. No luck. Any suggestions? I cant find a Sony customer suppport line, just an email one but they havnt responded to the email I sent them 2 days ago.

Do you know for sure that your TV supports HDCP? You probably want to give the specs of your TV, that may help someone to help you.
yes it definatly does, I have been using the HDMI since January.
The the TV is a Sharp LC-32DA5U
Not that this is your specific problem, but I noticed something after getting my Elite 360 (to take up the other HDMI port on my Samsung)... the cable that MS packs in, isn't of the highest quality and it seemed that the connection was dodgy... moving the cable, (pushing eject on the 360 too) would pop my display to "searching for signal".

I picked up one at Monoprice as a replacement (hoping it wasn't the console) and it's worked like a charm ever since. I also got some short HDMI cable extensions so that I could save wear on the ports on the back of my TV.

It's something to check out... I always like to look to the cheapest problem first anyway... saves on frustration.

try setting upthe HDMI thing manually. i thought the 2nd beep thing makes it go default settings, correct me if im wrong. and did u check ur tv is on the right "channel"?

While we talk about HDMI issues, I'm wondering if anyone could answer this problem as well. Now I have a Sharp AQUOS 27" that support HDMI, and resolutions up to 1080p. It usually works just fine, but occasionally when I turn on my electronics that are hooked through HDMI, I get this very staticy (is that even a word?) noise. I get no sound, and nothing but static...but I seem to get picture. Then I try turning off my TV and reset the device, and it seems to work fine after that.

i had a similar problem but not with my ps3, it was with my TV tuner from timewarner cable. my problem was i put the settings to 1080i and for some reason my tv couldnt doit even tho it clearly states it can, and the tv kept shutting off. maybe try setting up ur output again. that helped me, my tv hasnt shut off since.

to the op, are u sure ur hdmi cable isnt messed up? if ur components work, that means it has to be the cable for the HDMI.

When I first turn on my TV, if I turn on the PS3 right away the TV displays colored veritcal lines and makes screachy beep sounds, and I have to unplug the TV to fix it.

So, I gotta turn the TV on and let it warm up a couple minutes before I turn the PS3 on.

I'm having this problem also. While the demo for Ratchet and Clank was installing, I switched video inputs on my TV to watch something else during that time. When I tried to switch back, I get no HDMI output from the PS3. I can get output through component using the auto setup, but if I try to use it again for HDMI there still is no picture output.

EDIT: Aha, figured it out! When doing the auto setup with both component and HDMI plugged in, on the component input, the PS3 showed the screen where it said it detected an HDMI cable and asked me if I wanted to use that for audio and video. After I saw that, I knew that it must be a fault of the TV, and not the PS3, as it is detecting the HDMI. So I unplugged my TV, let it sit for a minute, and plugged it back in. Then, I went to the HDMI input on the TV for the PS3 and once again started the auto setup for the PS3, and this time it worked. So if you haven't tried it yet OP, try unplugging your TV for a minute and plugging it back in.

I'm guessing that's a handshake thing... (between the two devices)... like the other static post...
Both my 360 and my PS3 do that if I don't turn the TV on first... (not so much screechy beepy sounds, because I route my audio out to a bookshelf POS system).

It's not entirely regular, but it does happen from time to time... I can only attribute it to handshake/resolution changing....
I used to have an upscaling DVD player that would display green goop on the screen if I turned it on before the TV... so *shrug*

I had noticed something odd when doing the cable investigation (not to beat a dead horse), but the MS supplied cable worked fine on my DVD player, but not my PS3.. (I got no signal)... I have _NO_ idea what that entails... but I was reading on the audio/video forums (from a google search on my cabling issue) and they said the 'better' quality monster-type cables would fail more often due to length disparity within the cable bundles themselves (meaning something w/r/t thickness and whatnot). I'm not so sure that makes sense... but since my cable issue occurred with my consoles by not my DVD must have something to do with the comms between them and my TV for some reason.

I'm completely at a loss to explain why my upscaling DVD loves the cable and both consoles hate it.

well I called in and they are sending me a replacement, its rquired to have a reciept (wtf?) which I didnt have but I had a nice guy and he worked around it. The only problem is that my HDD will be wiped/ not switched in soooo that suckss.
