brokelikejoke

CAGiversary!
I was originally gonna try and find a deal on a Japanese 360 but the fact that Gears of War doesn't seem to have a Japanese release date yet scares me... so i was wondering if someone knows where i can find a US 360 in Japan... preferably new or Factory refurbished... But if someones looking to raise up some dough 4 a PS3 by turning in their 360 hola at me and we may be able to work sumthin out...
...I'll be in tokyo a week and a half from now for 3 months and i have to play GoW By December... i would grab one here but they cost over $500 for the premium...

There's an Asian version coming out, w/full english, that will be playable on Japanese 360's. And its only $40!

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dw-49-en-70-1iix.html

Play-asia ships for free to Japan too!

I got my Japanese 360 (USED, but in brand-new condition) back in August for 28,880 yen, or about $250 with the current exchange rate.
Lots of Japanese games have full English, and if they don't you can usually get an Asian version that has, at the very least, English subs.

That's awseome... thank you so much... looks like i'll be getting a Japanese system afterall... where did you pick up your machine? Are u able to play on Live with US gamers?? if so, hows the lag? I know it wouldn't be any better with a US system , just wondering cause i'll be co-oping with my homie in Hawaii and i'd hate for some lag to ruin it..i'll have broadband thru cable when i get there...

After having lunch with a guy from Play-Asia, he definitely recommends getting a Japanese 360 if living in Japan. With so many Asian versions coming out, it really makes sense.

I only played on Live as long as the 1-month Gold trial membership lasted (so....uh....for one month, haha) and the only game I had at the time was PDZ. I played online a few times and it was lag-free and against mostly people with mildly offensive gamertags in English, and most of the headset chatter was in English so I assume it was with people in the States.

I think Live is good to go wherever you go.

And I got my console at an Electronics store called "Wonder Goo". No joke.

Just shop around at stores til you find used systems, they're all pretty cheap.

i was a little distracted by their November __ 2006 release date so i looked on the official Japanese xbox site and according to them (and Babble fish) sale date is December schedule (or 発売日: 2006 年 12 月予定) ...
just as vague but i suppose more realistic... hoping it's early december and not later though..well actually i'm hoping Play-Asia's November release is correct...
well i'm pre-ordering it as soon as i convince my wife 100% that i deserve a 360... i'm at about 75% ...

been in Japan a couple days now and am loving it... though i`m still a bit jet lagged (keep waking up at 3am) it`s awsome ... heading to Akihabara 2 day and probably tommorow... on the look out for a 360... if anyone knows where the deals are let me know
What are you there for? you lucky soul you!
he's there solely to endulged in the neglected japanese 360 merchandise

Back in March i married a Japanese Ex-pat in my homeland of Samoa... i immediatly knocked her up and we decided to have our son in Tokyo cause, well the hospital where i`m from is reminiscent of a rhowandan refugee camp... so we`ll be spending the next 3 months in Yokohama and anywhere the trains will take us...

On my way to Okinawa tomorrow morning. Missed my flight today so Im chilling in Houston. Cant wait to get out there to check things out.

that`s cool, haven`t been there yet, but i know for sure you gotta check out Tokyo... Shibuya is a trip especially if you stroll over to harajuku..... hotties everywhere dressed up like runway models... if i wasn`t married already i`d be getting myself into so much trouble

I guess it`s a bad time to get a 360 in Japan... i went to a grip of shops in Akihabara today and nobody had a used system and the lowest price i found for a new one was 37.600 Y , i`m pissed ... i blame DOAX2 and damn blue dragon... now there is an actual demand for 360... i`ll keep looking but if someone could save me some time and hook me up with directions to a store where i can get a system for under 32,000 Yen ( i made the dummass mistake of promising my wife that would be the maximum i`d pay for a system) anyway i`m pretty close to the Aobadai station in Yokohama... i think i understand the train system enough to get around... so holla at me if your feeling charitable... if your in the area i`ll treat ya lunch if ya can hook me up with a good deal... and if you can find me a really good deal, my sons middle name is still undecided...

I know Japan does not have a used game market, but do they even have a used system market? I was under the impression that they did not.

huh? Japan has a respectable used game and system market. Almost every game I bought there was used(used Saturn games are delightfully inexpensive).
Check out used merchandise stores like Book Off to find them.
damn i so gotta get to Japan. one week for vacation from work just isn't enough, i think i may have to leave my job.
You need to go in between jobs and take like 2 or 3 months off, assuming you can afford to...

Actually there is a huge used game/system market... i could find pretty much every system u can think of for the sub 100 USD price range... every system except the 360 that is... i even found a Neo Geo...probably would have picked one up too if i was still single... i decided to go again next week after practicing a little more japanese...

seriously though... i could use some help here.... is there some secret code word i gotta use for them to bust out the 360`s or did they really suddenly recieve a huge boost in popularity...

Where are they? cheapest i found was ¥37,000 or around $350 USD... which is cheaper then the states... but i promised my wife i`d only get one if i can find it for ¥32,000 ... don`t mind used as long as it`s in good condition...

As I mentioned in one of your many other threads on the same subject, there really aren't any. No need to keep creating new threads about it. I'm merging this thread with your older threads.

The core system (with PGR3 and Ninety-Nine nights) comes out on 11/2 and sells for about 28,000 yen. If you can wait until 12/2 you can get the blue dragon core system which replaces those other 2 games with BD.

What? WHAT?!

Japan has the MOST INCREDIBLE USED GAME MARKET IN THE WORLD.

Seriously, you can find nearly any game ever made if you look long enough (and have the cash to pay for it). Plus used games here are usually in PERFECT condition. I've bought tons of used games here in the last year that have been in better condition than NEW games I bought back in the States.
For example, I found a CIB copy of Mother 1 & 2, non Player's Choice (or whatever its called here, I can't remember) with an absolutely flawless box/manual for under $20 American. Compare that to buying a NEW GBA game in the States where the box is crushed to hell and barely worth hanging on to.

Its gonna be really hard to go back to buying EB's "new" games if/when I move back to the States.

sorry for the multiple threads CD... but in each one people started going off subject, into some random discussion... and they were slightly different

for one... I`m not looking for a US system anymore... i want a Japanese one... i also would like a used one for less than ¥32000... i found a store that would have sold me on for 26,000 if they had one to sell.... so there is some hope... anyways forget about it ... i`ll just call around

さようなら
Seriously, I have NO IDEA where I heard that. Drop it already.
Sorry bout that. I didn't mean it as a crack at you personally, just at the false info in general (if that makes sense...).
But yeah, Japan has an AMAZING Used game market so I hope you get a chance to check it out someday.

Maybe you were thinking of the fact that there is no game RENTAL market in Japan?
Because, unless something's changed VERY recently, you can't rent games in Japan.

Whats an Ex-pat?
Whats an Ex-pat?
expatriate, basically someone who isn't living in their home country. for instance, cheapyd would be considered an ex-pat

See what i mean about getting off-topic ?

anyways i found a used 360 yesturday in Akihabara for 29,000 yen or about $250 USD which was the sweet price i was looking for ... shout out to to the guys on the 5th(or was it 4th) floor Akiba place, about half way between MR doughnut and freshness burger (or was it mos burger) ... i grabbed the last used one but they have the cheapest price i`ve seen for a new system which is 36,500 Yen ... also grabbed DoA 4 for like $25 from there bargain bin ... then grabbed GRAW from a traders down the street 4 less then $20 ....

got a question ... Do all 360`s here come with HDMI outputs or did i A) get lucky or B) don`t know a HDMI plug from a but plug... i`ll see if i can upload a pic....

kif2445sd0.th.jpg

there we go ... is that HDMI plug? if not what the hell is it? if it is all i need is a HD tv and i`m set ... right now i`m using a vaio with a TV tuner... does the job but i am missing out on the HD era ... which sucks cause i know this monitor can display 720p at the least...

Its not HDMI, its the Japanese equivalent of a Component connection....I believe it's simply known as a D-Cable.

p.s. It's a mos burger. ;)
