but im too lazy to go digging to find if it has......

When a game goes on sale, for shits and giggles we'll say circuit city....

Say ABC game goes on sale/clearance for 9.99 and its still 39.99 or more everywhere else. ABC is wanted by lots of people.

Say you have ABC game but it wasnt from that sale/clearance.

Why is it people expect you to honor CC price when they try getting it from you regardless if you got it from there or not?

Or should I ask regardless where you get it from, why is it only worth that now because CC has/had it at a clearance price?

If Im not asking the right question that makes sense I apologize but I think most will understand what Im getting at.

If everywhere else still has it significantly higher than the sale price I value the game close to what I paid for it. If a couple of places have the game at various different prices, I'll usually value it around the second lowest price (ie- CC= 9.99, BB= 14.99, TRU/Wal-Mart= 29.99, then I value at 14.99). Different people here have different expectations though. It seems the mentality around here is that since I didn't get in on the deal someone should give me their extra for price + shipping. I've gotten shit for when I went out of my way to pricematch a game at Wal-Mart (5 + tax) so that I could sell it to a CAG for 14 (including shipping). But hey... that discussions been had and dealt with already. As for your situation... just explain to them that you value it more than what they want to pay/trade for it, so either pony up more money/items or move on.

my opinion is similar to yours. i look at it this way... example: i paid 10 dollars for a game at Circuit City, and now it's up for trade/sale. someone usually comes along and asks, "will you take 10 dollars shipped for it? then i politely decline. they usually come back at me with, "well, i can just buy it for 10 dollars from Circuit City", to which i have this to say: if you can buy it from your local CC for 10 dollars (apparently sans tax!), then why don't you just go and do that??!!

another example (close to what you're talking about): i pay 20 dollars for a game. that game goes on universal clearance (everywhere) for 5 bucks. it's on my list. someone always comes along and asks if i'll take 5 dollars for it, because it's 5 bucks everywhere already. to that i say, obviously you can't get it for 5 dollars, or you wouldn't be asking someone online for it. so no, the price is not 5, it's 20 (or whatever). in fact, it's worth whatever i say it is, as long as it sells. even if no one wants it for the price i paid, that's fine -- it can sit on my list a little longer.

i don't want that to make me sound greedy. i try to be reasonable, but my time and effort aren't free, so i'm not going to buy something and go to the trouble of selling/trading it and end up giving it away.

Exactly. Its not about being greedy but at the same time just because one place has it that cheap doesnt mean everyone on the board got it there at that price.
