Getting impatient waiting for Starcraft 2 to come out and its been a long long time since I had a good RTS game. Anything anyone recomends in the starcraft mold? Never really liked C&C games and a lot of rts games seem to not have any sort of resource management anymore, but I like that added aspect of the game.
 
Dawn of War games are great. The second one is more like Company of Heroes but the First one and its expansions are the base building type.

I believe there is a demo for at least one of them you can try out.

If you like them, I suggest getting the THQ Complete Pack off Steam. It is currently $49.99 and includes a ton of great games including all the DoW games.

'Glest' is really good and it has tons of mods for it.

I would also try 'Rise And Fall: Civilizations At War'

'House Globe' is a demake of Homeworld which is one of my most cherished RTS games next to Starcraft.

I just added 4 more RTS games to the 'Free And Legal PC Games' list - Hit the 1st page and enjoy :)
