Independance Exploit or Hdadvance? Best deal?

For the record, I'm not interested in how to play backups or how to get them on my HD or any of that stuff. I swapped my slim PS2 for a fat one in order to be able to set it up with a HD. The PS2 lasers have a habit of going out and I'm very interested in being able to store all my games on the HD + get the benefit of better loading times.

I already have a network adapter so what I'm missing now is a way of getting games on a HD and the HD itself. The trick is I don't know of a good place to buy HDAdvance (of it I want to since it seems it is basically stolen intellectual property from people who did the programming) or if I should just pick up Codebreaker or Action Replay Max and try doing the Independence Exploit.

So my deal searching is a bit complicated. I'd need a good deal on HDAdvance or a good deal on Codebreaker 8 or higher, or Action Replay Max (plus a small USB drive but they are easy to come by).

Secondly, and this is where even I'm confused is I'd need a hard drive. I believe HDAdvance supports up to a 200 GB drive, but from what I've read hdloader .08c supports up to a 500 GB drive. So if anyone has any advice in that regard I'd appreciate it.

Sorry for this big confusing post but I'm just trying to find the cheapest way of getting my PS2 set up so I can start putting games on my HD (perhaps I'm a bit paranoid but I'm almost afraid to play it until I get the games on the HD).

Regardless of your intentions, this type of discussion is not allowed. If there's potential for piracy, then it's a no-no.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that rule. I seemed to recall discussion of things like the R4 card previously and I assumed provided it wasn't specifically to play "backups" or the like it was allowed. I've also searched and found old topics about HDAdvance and the like but I apologize for any rules I might have broken. My only interest was in getting my games on my HD, if I could play backups this wouldn't even be a issue since I could just burn what I needed, ya know?

I have a question too. But know first that I do not condone piracy.

Can anyone suggest a good speedboat capable of outrunning average tourist watercraft in the Florida Keys? Particularly one with a giant harpoon on the bow?

I get the joke but from what I understand HDAdvance is set up to put commercial games on your HD. For instance, if your PS2 can't play burns you can't get the games on the HD without a rather elaborate process. I'd be much happier if companies would work to support this type of technology and put protections in place to prevent piracy rather than make devices that are prone to breaking and giving lower performance to the consumer. I owned a N-Gage for instance and several commercial games but I had little choice but to download the games and put them on my MMC if I had serious intentions about playing them (otherwise you had to take it apart to change games). The consumers do not come first in these types of situations, the laser in the PS2 is crap and very expensive to replace for example. Is it better that people have had to buy 2 or 3 PS2s just because they bought devices prone to error?

Having said all that, since I understand I am in the least on the fringe of the forum rules I understand when/if the powers that be do what ever they find appropriate with this topic. However I will reiterate that I wasn't trying to ask how to play "backups" or a place to download them or anything like that. I use this site a lot and as a result I have over 40 PS2 commercial games and about as many PS1 games.

Dont buy Hdadvance because the comparability isnt as good as the exploit.

This board allow discussion for slide card and flip top for import, but ad the same time they can be use for piracy. In some cause ripping games on PSP memory card is allow.
